V8 Pressuire Plate clutch used in Model A's

Lads, Good points. I'll replace the bearing on spec. Another comment was that the metals used recently on the bolts are not good ole US hardened steel. I believe the supplier clutches are made overseaa.

V8 Pressuire Plate clutch used in Model A's

My three round headed pivot ball bolts used to adjust the finger height are showing significant wear after a few thousand miles. I have 2" of free play and the throw-out bearing is not touching the finger bolts when the clutch pedal is at rest. I have seen this on three v8 clutches driven by...

It’s getting harder to drive my A

Re: It’s getting harder to drive my A Time is no friend. Pam and I were talking yesterday that sometime down the road one of the cars will have to go; the A or the Healey. I think the AH will be the first to go when the time comes.

    Changing of the Guard

So Pam and I were doing some Estate planning and I questioned which of my children would like what car; the 28 Tudor or the 65 Healey ? The answer from both was simple; neither car however had we kept the 78 Z28 now that would be adifferent story. Honesty sometimes is not easy to accept but it...

Rear Hubs Insert and Smaller Wheel bearing

Some time ago I saw an insert collar that you pressed into the rear brake drum hub that used a smaller wheel bearing when the hub showed wear. Any suggestions where I may have seen them. I searched the parts suppliers to no avail.

    Stuck Clutch Plate

Bob, your 100 % correct! The V8 site talks about giving the pins a little blast of the welder at both ends to ensure they will never work their way out.

    Stuck Clutch Plate

Fixed !! it was one of the three V8 clutch fingers. It had un pinned / displaced itself from the pressure plate so when the throw out bearing was pushed forward, only 2 of the 3 fingers were moving the clutch assembly.

    Stuck Clutch Plate

Gents, I friend has a stuck clutch plate that for no apparent reason became stuck while driving !!! He tried to depress the clutch while slowing down at an intersection and no go; the clutch is not releasing the clutch plate from the flywheel. We can see the pressure plate (V8 clutch) fingers...

Tomorrow's a big day in my life

My retirement home includes plenty of home space for Pam and the all the grandkids plus 1,200 floor heated squares of garage with a two post hoist. From lifting the A to hoisting up the lawn tractor to clean the deck, the best decision made was to install it. You're going to love it.

    DynaBeads, yay or nay?

Yes ! I have used them for years. Use a palm sander and place it against the stem; the vibration will allow the beads to fall into the stem / tube without any problem.
