    Shocking Advice

Based on OP of 98% original I say go for the "real" shocks. Makes it handle better and will improve it to 99% original. I am glad I spent the bucks to rebuild/replace mine.

    Starter rod finish

Can one of you guys tell me the correct finish for the starter rod in 1931? The Restoration Guidelines are fuzzy about it, in my opinion. I understand that in the early years it was cadmium but does that apply to later years also? Thanks in advance.

Ditto on comments by jkcrosson and Scott. Roy was always hospitable. He was a lifetime member of Central Alabama MAFC and will be missed in the hobby.

    High School Model A restoration

Central Alabama MAFC recently donated a chassis to the Autauga Co. Tech School auto program to rebuild. We had been donating money yearly. The chassis is apperently generating a good bit of interest and enthusiasm in the students. We hope to also make some Model A fans/club members eventually...

    Fun day at school

I have taken our station wagon on to Transportation Day at my grandchild's elementary school in recent years. I open both front doors and let each student get in, honk the horn and slide across and exit the passenger door. The grins are priceless. I hope I have generated at least one old car...

    Hiding Wires

Black siliicone worked for me. Used zip ties to hold wire until silicone cured then removed them.

    Shocks

Drove my station wagon for years with worn out shocks. After installing rebuilt ones from Robert Paul I will recommend expending the funds. It makes the car handle better. I like to keep things original rather than go modern.

Thanks for the suggestions. I only have to replace one that was leaking. I think I will try the glue suggestion of mrraford.

    Original shock link installation

I am having trouble getting the ball to fit into the shock link when all the "guts" are in it. Putting grease on the cup just makes it worse because it ends up everywhere. The main problem is keeping the brass cup in place as the ball is forced in the hole on top of the cup. The cup likes to...

A simple fix - once I figured it out.

I had a similar problem on a tour to Chattanooga several years ago. Field fix in motel parking lot was with pair of pliars to increase the flare. The permanent fix was Aries muffler with the station wagon extension.
