    Coolant Filter

I used a nylon sock at the upper radiator/ hose connection.

    Starter Switch Questions

Later ford solenoids used those "speed nuts" to hold the studs in place. My thought was that it would hold the stud in place, but not need a wider nut and longer stud. They can be unscrewed if you start them with pliers. Probably an aftermarket version.

    Installing Modern shocks

I just today finished install the shock kit from ebay mentioned above. I chose it because there was not drilling of the front axle. I have not driven it yet, waiting to get the grease seals for the drums. The install was pretty straight forward, BUT I would suggest looking at/ printing the...

    6’2”

Re: 6’2” I have a 31 sport coupe and am 6'2" around 200. I have the seat as far as back possible without modification, I slide across the seat to get my feet and legs in then slide under the wheel. It's tight, but I can make it work. I also sat in a PU as though I was driving....Nope, not...

    Lighting dims question

I am adding this only because it was not mentioned above, I know you have replaced the battery once..but did you clean the posts and inside of the cables that contact the posts? I have seen this happen, things seem OK but there is poor contact at those points.

    Speedo and cable problem

Could it be that the cable is installed backwards? Mine has a collar that goes in the speedometer end of the jacket. Could be that if it is installed the other way, the cable is slipping too far into the jacket and out of the speedo. Is the cable extending far enough from the jacket to...

    Thank you Ford Barn

Whirnot, I partially agree on tri-5's being a "dime a dozen" BUT it now is if you can afford one. Big bucks if you want one, even if it's unrestored and you are going to do the work yourself. I own a 55 Belair and have for over 20 years, i restored it myself and even that was was not cheap! I...

    Snyders new site security concern

Has not worked for me yet, and I just tried again. It got me to the new temporary password, but when I tried to change it on the site it kept coming back with a "general error" screen. No password update. I have tried it several times today, and as long as I use the [password they gave, I can...

    Problems with windshield hitting gastank

I had the same problem with my 31 Sport Coupe... found that after replacing the hinge seal the window frame would hit the tank. MY mistake was ordering the window seal rather than the hinge, it fit and looked correct, but was too thick. Replaced the deal with the CORRECT one and it works...

Sport Coupe Rear Window won't stay up

Not trying to hijack this post, but if Chudwah or anyone has suggestions, hints or pointers for putting a new L-B top on a 31 Sport Coupe.. I would be most appreciative. I am bringing this back from a chop top to what it was meant to be, and have never done a Model A top.

    Driver side door lock

I have a '31 Sport Coupe, but I suspect it is probably the same. It should be positioned so when locked it will stop the rod from the handle to the latch from moving down (I think). If you look at how that rod works, it will make more sense. Mine did not have the lock when I got it, but there...

Check the battery as well. A weak battery can cause sticking contacts as well.

    12V Delco alternator problem

If you look at the rear housing you will see a half moon shaped hole. There is a tab in that hole, if you ground that tab and the alternator charges.... bad regulator. Easy to replace. Bill Williamson is correct, if you lose a diode there will be a definite sound. Still easy to replace. Could...

Not Model A but check this guy's driving

Thanks for the post. My best friends brother had CP. and also was in a wheelchair. He passed a few years ago, but I miss him a lot.. we had a great relationship and I admired what he did. He had a HAM radio and had postcards from all around the worls with folks he "conversed" with. I didn't...

Getting my 1931 Model A Coupe go start

Battery sounds questionable, but could be a bad armature or spot in the armature too. I would bench check the starter with 12 volts (since it is already out), see if that will wake it up. If not, looks like the started is toast, and time to take it apart or take it to a rebuilder to be rebuilt...
