The washer, 34907-S7, is only under the lower wing nut. This is per assembly sketch, SK-5084, on file at the Benson Ford. Washer 34907-S7 is an internal tooth lock washer and is available at most any hardware.

Tempered glass does not splinter. I produces small fragments when broken. As stated in my previous post it is used today in car and truck production and has been used for long time. Glass that splinters is illegal for automotive use per US federal automotive standards.

Part number for the grommet you asked about is B-14607. Bob Drake makes this grommet. The 7/8" hole grommet in the K-member is B-14606. This grommet is not reproduced.

The photo you have posted is of the early commercial plate. It is missing the starter rod hole below the steering column because this plate was used with the steering column drop mounted pull cable for the starter switch. It is also used with the early brake and clutch pedal assembly.

Service part info in the late 1940's and beyond show 28-32 as the same shock. If you check the 1932 Ford parts catalog '32 is listed as different from Model A. It is most definitely a 32 Ford 5 window coupe. The roof is curved in the windshield because the car had been rolled. Remember these cars were raced and vulnerable to racing accidents. Which helps to explain the paucity of surviving examples of those 32's used for oval track racing.

A rubber pad under the headlamp bar was never released by Ford for 1932 production. The pad is a creation of aftermarket parts suppliers. Check the period archive photos that show a close up of the the cars when new. The perimeter ridge on the reproduction pads are not visible in any of them.

Ed, In reading your post I believe you are using the 1928 - 1937 parts catalog. The B-18055 is a service part for 32 & 33 as David stated in his post. It is an assembly comprised of B-18064 & B-18065. Ford was servicing shock links by then as an assembly or individual parts.

They look like stock 32 -34 rears with the hubs removed and replaced with the front hubs from stock 32 - 34 drums. The hubs from the front brakes were then welded to the rear drums to make them "front drums" for 32 - 34.
