Don't forget Facebook. Two weeks ago I posted my '38 pickup and 14 minutes later I had a buyer. Kind of a shocker that it happened so fast but you just never know and its free to list.

Thanks, that's about what I figured. I have it assembled now and it really spins the flat motor over. The starter must have been slowly failing for some time.

Can anybody tell me what the starter shaft end play should be? I'm mixing parts and the endcap that I want to use appears to result in a slightly longer end play (in and out).

Thanks the ideas. I have a couple of starters and I think I will try to put one good one together. Any good hints on dealing with getting the armature and brushes installed?

So the rear plate in my existing 12V starter fractured in 3 places where the shaft goes through it. It looks like there is additional damage where the shaft wobbled around so I'm in need of a new starter. I'm not really finding much and what is offered seems to be questionable. Can anyone...

I'm no expert but it looks like she'll be needing a new radiator.

I run a non-vented cap along with a separate air vent from "Tanks" that has a rollover valve shutoff. I mounted the vent higher than the gas fill opening so it should never overflow.

I'd probably start by checking the float levels.

The 38 pickups use flat gaskets for the rear window. Not too surprising that the glass and maybe the opening would need to be tweeked.

You can find Laser Non-Contact Optical Tachometer on Ebay for as little as $20 or less. They come with a reflective tape that is stuck on a rotating part .

Since it would be before 2000 they would probably be more like 17th week of 1991. From the internet: For tires made before 2000, the date is represented by the last three digits of the DOT code. The first two digits represent the week of manufacture, and the last digit indicates the year...

I believe that the rubber kit comes with parts for both the truck and std cars so there will be leftovers.

A little grease on the striker and latch makes a huge difference on my '38.

Are you trying to save the glass? If you plan to replace the glass then you can break up the old glass and work it out of the frame a piece at a time.
