Welcome to the NEW Ford Barn!!!!

I have really enjoyed the Fordbarn through the years and made a lot of contacts, learned a lot on how to fix and where to get parts. But am a couple of weeks from 88 and I have slowed down a lot, sold our last Model A Tudor in the photo when I found it hard to get in and out. Bones getin'...

    I'm back.....

Chris, we visited you in Jacksonville years ago when it was a 'little town' before you moved north. We were there last week for a grandaughter's college graduation. Driving there in JAX was an experience. Couldn't wait to get back to Minnesota!

LED Lights for '46 Coupe Dash

Could this be a case of the manufacturer using a metric dimension instead of a US standard dimension?

    51 Ford 4dr seat

Thanks, that does help. I have a friend who has a 53 Tudor in his grove. Good chance it is still there. He got it from me so I hope I am still a friend.... :)

    51 Ford 4dr seat

Thanks for the reply. I do have a lead to a frame with springs from a 52 F1 but I don't want to tear things apart right away if they are not the same as the 51 4dr. I have enough unfinished projects already! I will have to do the measuring and if they are not the same maybe just the springs...

    51 Ford 4dr seat

Is a 1948-52 F1 pickup front seat cushion the same as a 51 4dr Sedan front seat cushion? My sedan seat needs rebuilding.

Any Flathead clubs in the Rapid City SD area?

I have a son in Rapid with a 47 Coupe that needs a bit of work and I am 500 miles away. Are there any clubs or old Ford guys hanging around with a lot of knowledge there?

What is this serial number about?

Does this number match the number on your title or the number on your engine?

    Cell Phone Holder

Good to know. At 85 it is easy to bring back the old technology from memory. But I am glad to see that the tiny little guys are finally getting good jobs! But where can they buy tiny little chalk sticks?

Will the magnet goof up the cellphone? They use magnets to erase some electronic stuff. ???

47 steering gear parts in Model A box?

Thanks, good info. I just ordered a shortened Pitman from Snyder's, but now it is $75 if you include shipping. Times change, eh? One of the things I learned in this exercise is to fine tune the adjustments on the gearbox BEFORE changing the pitman. :)

47 steering gear parts in Model A box?

OK, I was finally able to take a close look at the 47 box I now have. It did come out of a 47 pickup so it is probably not an F1. It also has the same 4-bolt cap on the end as the Model A and it does have a hole for the horn wire. So it probably does not need to be modified. It might be that...

47 steering gear parts in Model A box?

OK, so not many people are experts in the innards of the gearbox other than the rebuilding and adjustment projects. I always seem to have questions on things nobody else even thinks about. My wife says that I am special... I took my Tudor on a drive for the first time in 2 years and realized...

47 steering gear parts in Model A box?

I am upgrading my 1930 Model A steering gearbox to a 1947 gearbox. First, can the Model A light switch be attached to the end of the 1947 gearbox or will I have to rig up a 1947 switch on the Model A dash? Or, will the interior parts of the 1947 gearbox fit into the 1930 Model A gearbox? It's...

    Electric Model A's

Sorry, I can't say anything nice about gutting out the heart of a Model A. Keep the hood down and it looks like a nice Model A.... before the repainting job. Reading the original post actually made me feel queasy. I need some brandy. Now.
