    Best engine green paint.

So are the Snyder & Brattons engine green spray paint the right color & gloss ? ( or how close ) I would note that paint even stored in a basement for many years changes colors as it ages. So it appears that no one has the proper formula for making ford engine green, one can get close, but...

    Cos of A Restoration

Hi Mike V. Florida, re: $3000 for brake parts... Mikes' has "most parts" for $2280.... I guess you have not rebuilt or viewed the video's available on A brake jobs. there are a lot more parts to a brake rebuild job than the 4 corners. pedals, linkages, cross shaft, front link arms are $100...

    Engine removal question

when I pull / install motors, with or without transmission, I don't remove the headlight bar, as it's a pain to get off / on. but you need a hoist / chain-fall that can lift vertically not a classic arm based engine hoist. a Gantry Crane works well.

    Cos of A Restoration

to start: a proper brake & hub / bearings rebuild will cost $3000 in parts. normally: you will spend $30,000 on a driver rebuild... and can't sell it for more than $15k. it's just a BOAT (Break Out Another Thousand )

Engine hoist in East Bay Area, CA

You would think a Good Eagle Scout could rig up a block and tackle, and just slide the engine up a board. Good Luck on the Big Lift in Alameda

    #1 cylinder has 36psi compression

We got this resolved last night. it seems the valve adjustment on cylinder #1 was not properly done, and they were slightly open...( no tapet clearance ) should be closed., we re-adjusted the #1 cylinder valve clearances and all is working well. I will see if I still have the Puffs of smoke...

    #1 cylinder has 36psi compression

Thank you DHZIEMAN & All, the engine we re-sealed for a swap was a "used" engine, the history we know it ran before it was removed, but rarely does one just remove a "perfect" engine. so we knew there was risk of some issue, this why we pulled the head etc. I'll pressure up #1 @TDC and see...

    #1 cylinder has 36psi compression

thanks, good questions: re Q1: --> no water bubbling up in Radiator re Q2.) not a chipped valve as they looked good when we had the head off. but some sort of valve sealing issue is possible. ------- I'll do a cylinder leak test next. But I omitted the puffs of smoke from the oil...

    #1 cylinder has 36psi compression

on the engine we just re-sealed ( gasket job ) has 35psi in cylinder #1 and 55PSI in the other 3. we added oil to #1 and re-tested the compression, it rose to 50psi. besides a drop in power, are there any short term issues with having it like this ? We are trying to get the car in the 4th...

    Frame

the attached image says 25 1/4" .. I would make a frame center-line and measure 1/2 the distance off that, as both noses could be a bit bent... after 88 years.

    steering box mounting frame holes

re: Bob B. --> I think when I do version #2 I'll cut the bolts shorter, I have them pointing inwards, so there is no change of interference.

    steering box mounting frame holes

update, & resolved for now. I agree the best solution is to weld the holes and re-drill, but this is not viable now. I used the 12mm fine pitch thread bolts, with the nuts on the inside and a grade 8 lock washer under the head on the outside, I had to grind a bit off one nut's shoulder so it...

    steering box mounting frame holes

I have an A with 2 Tooth box, the box moves... when you use the steering wheel. I'm guessing the holes on the frame are "waller'ed'" out ( oval ) besides welding it up and re-drilling the holes in the frame, is there a method to repair this that's simpler ? like bushings around the...

please: do not beat on the threaded shaft with or without a nut on then end... borrow or find some sort of hub puller tool, the cheap "C" shaped ones will just bend too. the are not cheap... $100 for a good hub puller.
