What year and what is it worth?

I saw a '55 F-100, auctioned at an estate sale a few months ago in Western Kentucky. I thought about bidding on it but didn't, especially after bidding started high and went to $4600, i think. It was all original, inn fair to good condition with little rust but had sat for about 30 yrs. The...

    Airplane parts? Or junk?

One could also attach a spring(s) to the mechanism to retract the cylinders. That's how the leveling cylinders work on RVs these days. Of course the pressure would need to be relieved, first. Al Hook

    Muffler review

I have a pair of Walker Continentals on my 48, which I installed around 1978 (but who's counting). They are a little loud now. Not a flathead, tho. Al Hook

    Stoplight Stall

Upon re-starting, does it sound, and act rich? Black smoke? These would be symptoms of flooding due to stopping. Make sure your floats are working under fuel pressure, it could be any of the three.

    Ingintion Guru's advice #2

I had a similar situation a year or so ago with a zero-turn mower. It had 12 volts at the ignition switch, all wiring seemed intact, all connections good and clean, but no spark and no voltage or next to none at the ignition feed. I found that it would run if a 12 volt jumper was attached at...

    Flathead machine shop in Tennessee

Pat Robinson in West Paducah is a great engine machinist. I've seen a few flatheads there over the years, but Pat is in his 80's and has been in bad health lately and may not be accepting work. He has done some fine work for me in recent years, but I've never built a flathead. Al Hook

    Backfire

Sounds like distributor cap and or wires/connections. By the way, my dad bought his only new car ever [for his own use] in 1954. It was an ohv 239 Y-block, custom line, tudor sedan for about $1850. It was very basic, straight shift, no radio, rubber floor mats, but a nice car, just a...
