Thanks for that information DavidG. I had searched for a picture that would show that bolt but wasn't able to find one. Found some discussions on how it was to be used but no pictures of the actual bolt in place.

Is the front body bolt on the 32 ford at the cowl a special bolt? I know the purpose is to adjust the cowl for door adjustments but is it just a standard bolt?

Where does the vacuum line attach at the distributor? I know it comes off the intake but where does it connect to the 42-44 crab dist.?

Does anyone have a good picture of an original '32 tailpipe that goes through the rear cross member. I'd like to make one as close to the original as possible but I haven't been able to find one to use as example, so now maybe a picture will help.

I know the 32 passenger car and 33 passenger car have different frames. The trucks I wasn't sure about. I've got a nice 32 rolling frame and was wondering if a 33 pickup would fit the 32 frame.

I'm going to restore a 40's midget race car and i want to put a V8 60 in the car. I've never had the little V8 or worked on one, but my question is do they generally have the same crack issues as their big brother?

Just do a t-5 and call it done man. You can put any transmission in any car if you want to do the work and spend the money. There is plenty of information about how to do a t-5 swap available along with complete adapter kits that are proven to work.

I notice that no one answered the OP's question about the total bearing preload of 38 inch pounds. That's something I've never measured myself, but wouldn't that be the pinion preload + carrier preload? I don't think I've ever read anything about an inch pound calculation for the assembly as a...

Thanks 51 MERC, as I said in my original post, we did exactly that, but I was hoping to get an opinion from some of the old time builders that post here from time to time concerning the merits of using a pilot versus using the valve guide as a pilot. thanks
