    Rattling fuel pump pushrod tube

Indeed they ARE! See photos (found on the web) It would make sense if one of them had become loose. Could easily be the sound I heard. Anyone have had that experience?

    Rattling fuel pump pushrod tube

I have now opened the manifold. The tube is not loose. So its not that making sounds. Look at the pictures: There are two of theese kind of steel plate brackets. What do they do? They are just push fitted at both ends on the (oil) tube running in the centre bottom of valve house. They could have...

    Rattling fuel pump pushrod tube

Thank you all for advices and personal experience answers on this matter. This is also the way I humbly attend from time to time. I think this is what this forum is all about. Getting personel corrections as how to ask - however, is not (my opinion)

    Rattling fuel pump pushrod tube

No easy removable fuel pump stand in my car. See photos. So its a manifold job. Or leave for now. IF it wont harm oil pressure.

    Rattling fuel pump pushrod tube

In the first post I got clever leads as to what the rattling noise could be. Then - with this knowledge at hand - I opened this thread - because I want to drive, and if possible, wait with the repair to the winter. (Opening the inlet manifold is NOT a 5 min job...) My car does not have pressure...

    Small spanner in crankcase??

Great car, by the way!! Will a loose tube affect oil pressure?

    Small spanner in crankcase??

Admiral! Thats it! There can be no doubt. Seeing that rod and loose tube fits perfectly to the sound I hear. And also makes sense because I had the top off a month ago - and was a bit confused as to this tube... Learning! I can pull the top, or leave for now. Is this right? It won't be harmfull?

    Small spanner in crankcase??

No. It could not be. BUT ever so often - now and then - i hear a very gentle metallic hammering sound. Like at tiny soft hammer binging on a cast aluminium bell some where inside engine. Only noticeable at slow idle. Engine performs well. Oil pressure checked ok. Had manifold head of a month...

    Timing - 1935 flathead - help

I know the tiresome process of diagnosting misfires - hope followed by disapointment... Just one thought here: Are you SURE the fuelpump is delivering enough?? (I rebuild mine - car started but would not rev. Ended up buying new one). Do let us know of your progress! Chr.
