Mystery solved, thanks one and all. I'm always grateful for the wisdom found in the forum, and for the willingness to share it. 38 coupe, curious as to the level of effort required to run the wire in the other direction. If the ammeter is doing the opposite of what it reads, then it's...

Right and left side photos, and side view toward the front. On the back is the brand name Power Gen. I guess I have a 1-wire alternator.

It has a generator as far as I can tell, but also possible that it's an alternator disguised as a generator. Should I supply a photo of the generator?

Finally got new tires mounted on the '38 we bought earlier this year. I've only started it a few times, wasn't going to take it out before replacing the 50 year old tires. I just noticed that the amp gauge shows discharge when revving the engine. The seller had installed a new battery, so I...

Thanks Bill, that makes sense. Much appreciated.

Had the '38 4-door convertible we just bought delivered to our place in WI while we were in AL, so after almost a month of waiting yesterday was the first I've had a chance to look at it. In the last 50 years it's had just two owners, the most recent since 2002. Looked through a ton of...

Thanks, '38, for helping me realize that the bottom left opening is non-standard. In looking at your dash photo (and others) there are two knobs on either side, not three on the left and two on the right. I was told by the dealer (Motorland Cars in Maine) that this Deluxe had been in the prior...

Thanks Terry, I'll reach out to Dennis Carpenter Reproductions on Monday. Face for the radio would be nice. From the photo supplied by Petehoovie it sure looks like a lighter. Car just left Maine this morning, should arrive in a couple days.

Gotta ask. What’s your coupe’s knob for? Looks like a lighter

Thanks Jeff. The dealer said he’d reach out to the 95 yr old prior owner about ir

Thanks much, I'll go on the hunt for a throttle control knob and hopefully cable. I'm pretty sure that bottom hole must have been for the now-disconnected nitrous bottle in the trunk.

Just bought a driver-quality 4 door Deluxe convertible. Very happy! Needs a new set of tires, a top repair and a good going-over. I have no idea what these two missing dash knobs are, and would rather not be looking at empty holes if it can be avoided. Knowing what they are will help me with...

Russel, I'm glad to hear you say that - I was thinking the same thing. I'll get it scanned and post it under a separate thread. Chris

Thanks Ken, I'm just west of Madison. Wisconsin Rapids isn't too far, and I'll get in touch. I appreciate the invitation! Chris

Thanks Keith, it's tipping back at the bottom pivot point. I would like to replace the stops or upsets if I could. The only replacement part I could find on Snyders that seemed likely is called the Windshield Post Socket. Is that what you're talking about, or something else? I'd like to keep...

Thanks, John and Al - Joining the local chapter and getting together is what it's all about!

Thanks, H L, I am grateful. The best surprise about this Model A came when we were driving back from the auction. There was an accordion folder with old receipts and various papers for the car, and in it was the story of this Model A from when was found by the then-owner at a salvage and...

Thanks, Glenn, I like the idea.

Thanks, Mike, I have a few older cars, and appreciate picking brains. I plan to join up, and I will get the Les Andrews books. Appreciate the help. Chris

Found a radiator, thanks to this forum. Thanks much, Chris in Wisconsin
