I am assuming you are talking about the single wire from the switch to the distributor ? The way I did that was to take the switch out of the dash and dist.
Look at the back of the switch housing and I used a file to cut away enough material to then pry the back of the housing off. I used a...
My car not painted yet. Doors were all sagging from years of kids hanging off them. I used cut off bolts and put them in between the the hinges and closed the door spreading the hinges back out to where the doors fit and close perfectly. Rear doors were much harder than front but I did not...
I had my T block done and it is not bored in line with the block. I made it work but it took a L o n g time to do it. My A block went in the shop yesterday for hardened seats and valves, then it's off for new babbitt next week. I REALLY hope he bores it correctly this time.
Not that interested in using a book when I have you guys for info but thank you. Looked like my block might have been gray but it may have been faded that much.
Is this green the same as my T block ??
Lot's of good info here. Thank you. On my T I decked the block to have nice flat surface for sealing. I work at a machine shop and can use anything I want.
I did not measure the height of the block but I will before it goes back together to see what it currently is. I put the block in our...
I used one on my T coupe but did not want to cut the floor boards either. So I plugged the rear of the manifold heater and cut a new hole in the side and ran a hose accross the head and down to the front corner of the cab. The heat comes up through the steel part of the floor. On the T there is...
Who wants to tell me the truth about using them. Good and Bad ??
Who uses them and how much machining to the block is required. I am not interested in using the rod inserts just the block.
Thank you in advance,,,,,,,,,I think. Lol.,
Yep. Any auto parts store can get one if it doesn't already have one in stock. They will probably ask you the ding dong question of " What are you working on ? " tell them it's a 72' chevy. It used the internal resistor on my truck.
Exciting ! I know last year I was able to attend my first Model T event outside my local club as well and it was a Hoot! Have fun, my "A" won't be ready for any touring for at least another year.

If there is no Babbit left you can only get new babbit installed or buy another rod from the vendors. Not sure you can put inserts in without changing to full pressure oil system.
Measure your crank to make sure it is round.
Oh no I changed all the fluids first, pulled the starter, carb and distributor, cleaned and lubed them all before trying to start it.
Already took off the throttle and timing linkages. I am pulling the trans too so I can clean all the gunk off of it and paint it all while it's out. Ball cap so...
Well 54 years of sitting. I get it running and after about an hour of run time it starts knocking. Was going to start pulling the pan tonight and dropped the oil out and it was already very thick and about as gross as the 60 year old oil ,lumpy and all.
So a run down on pulling the engine and...
I think I agree with Allen about fuel or maybe a vacuum leak as well. It will get hot if it's running lean and would also be temperamental till it's good and warm. Try to add some fuel with at least the GAV. You will also see an increase in vacuum with more timing advance.. What does it do...
