Looks like when my dad put it together he used an early style bushing, but it's either worn or not tight enough. I ordered a bearing and cone and a few different style bushings to play with. I'll make something work.

Thanks Rich. That's what I was thinking also. I've seen the bushing on the left of your picture and I think that's what I'm looking at in there. I didn't know if the column took that or the bearing and cone instead or both.

Am I missing something here? This is my dad's model A, I think the column is f100 but it could be 51 car also, I'm not really sure. The steering wheel is a little wobbly at the top. At first I thought it was missing the cone and spring, but after taking the steering wheel off I'm not sure that's...

I had the float sink on a new Drake sender. Put my original float on it, which was bigger and I had to bend the arm, and it works again. Just because it's new doesn't mean it's good.

Does anyone know which style 11a-16378 bumpers are correct? Drake shows them pointed but everyone else shows them as round and flat. I have mismatched ones in the car now and the gas door sticks up too far. Just want to make sure I get the right one. Thanks!

You know the whole Ford in a Ford thing was born in the muscle car era. Not period correct for Fordbarn.

I put a 55 331 in my 40 convertible a few years ago. The 55 motor is the first year without the extended bell, so I wound up having to trim the flange off of the firewall at the very bottom just in the center where the toeboard meets. The steel trans cover still fits and covers the trimmed area...

For what it's worth I ordered a headliner from here for my model A coupe hot rod. I needed black vinyl to match the interior, so I assume it was made to order. It arrived and installed no problem.

The installed picture is my car. It's a 47 so floor is probably different.

They make a V8 model which can more than handle a healthy flathead.

I wouldn't be surprised if you are correct, and this car is some home brew built later to "update" a 36. Interesting either way.

I agree, that black 42 business coupe is the only business coupe I've ever seen with shorter drip rails. I'm inclined to believe it's not factory also.

This showed up on facebook marketplace in Connecticut, I've never seen one before. Personally I think it's an awkward looking cross between prewar and postwar. For the price he's asking it's worth more parted out. Hope it finds a good home.

I agree, the crease is unique to the 41 long door coupes. There's a 46 near me that has the 41 roof, but the car is a street rod so I'm not sure if it was born with a leftover body shell or if it's a 41 with a 46 nose. Not sure about mercurys.

I'm pretty sure the R10 internals are the same. If van pelt doesn't have what you need you're probably going to have to salvage parts from a good R10, but application shouldn't matter so there should be some out there. I think the Lloyd used a Studebaker R10, I have one in my '40.

Not sure how there could be play in that arm unless something is damaged. There is a NOS one on ebay for $70+shipping right now.
