I just did this a few months ago on my '47 fordor. Get it sitting on jack stands on the frame. As what WBrown says and you have to take the front motor mounts loose and jack the front of the motor up a few inches for added clearance. I was leaking lots of oil, and not so any more. Also...

I too hope to see him back on here again. Really liked his picture enlargements and his foresight & knowledge he shared on these old cars/trucks.

Augusta Kansas has a nice downtown car show every year. Still have brick streets if memory serves me correctly.

I did mine without pulling the engine, as I have a small shop and not much room. It wasn't bad at all. My brother came over and helped. Also did much of what is mentioned above, cleaned and replaced oil pan and gaskets, replaced seals, oil pump screen (which was really clogged), motor mounts...
