    Baron Aluminum heads

Has any one here used a set of Baron heads with the water manifolds on the top of the heads on an 8ba block? The heads are designed for the 32-48 style block. I know that the block has to have a few holes plugged to work correctly. The reason I ask is I am wondering if any one has had any...

Yeah, I hear you on the 15 year break, I took a 10 year break myself. Seems like something else came up that was more important, now at 75, time is most important.

    C-4 tag

Stephenorf, I also found that chart , and the little yellow astrix indicates that the information is not confirmed, at least that is the way I read it. That is what made me question the Mustang application since it does not have the floor shift linkage. It is as others have said , maybe a...

    C-4 tag

anyone here able to decode this C-4 tag for me? The tag reads PEE-C all I have been able to find out is that it is supposed to be a "67 trans behind a 289 V8, but have not been able to find out what body style. Maybe a galaxie, but not sure. I am trying to find out so I can purchase a...

Embarrassing question about a radiator fan

make sure the fan is "half way" in the shroud opening. that is the fan blade is half way into the opening and is pulling air from the radiator, not blowing air to the radiator. if you do not have a shroud , the optimal distance from the fan blade to the radiator is about 3/4 to 1 inch.

    54Mercury Carb question

the screw on the "toothed/stepped" lever is for the fast idle speed. if the choke is adjusted correctly , as the eng. warms up, you can tap the throttle and the lever will drop down to a different speed on each "step". To adjust the fast idle -- with the eng cold and choke fyll closed, start...

    Radiator blanket

Here in Alaska they were known as "winter fronts" and most were fastened on with snaps. when I worked at a gm dealership in the mid to late '70's they were a common option, and every p/u sold to the oil companies that went to the north slope oil fields were equipped with one, they were needed in...

1940 Battery Cables and Ground cables

I would make up mu own cables if you have the capability. I called Carpenters last week to place an order , but ended up canceling the order once I found out what they wanted to charge for freight. Freight to the lower 48 states is probably not bad, but they have a new shipping policy where...

55 Ford Ranchwagon has a fluid leak at right wheel

Unless I am wrong, I read your post to mean that the leak is on the rear axle, coming from behind the backing plate , making it look like a wheel cyl. , until the drum is removed. most rear axle bearings do not need packed with grease. there is a seal in the axle tube. you have to remove the...
