    Engine Number

I have a 31 roadster that has an engine number of "KA 40240 CAL". Then right below that number on the same spot is "P8236". The KA could be AA as it looks like it could have been re-stamped but it looks like KA. The car was in AZ some 25 years ago and getting a new title now in KS is turning...

    Yet another electrical issue

Thanks to Jon, Purdy and all. Will complete the wiring as suggested and report back. The points, distributor, cut out (not regulator) and all other electrical parts are standard A stuff still using 6v positive ground. Thanks for confirming how to get it to operate w/o the alt meter and such...

    Yet another electrical issue

Paul, yes I do believe I have strong fuel at carb but will be re-checking that tonite. I did check a couple days ago...but something could have happened. Purdy can you explain what you mean...."Run a wire from the cut out ( not generator post side) to the post of the starter switch where the...

    Yet another electrical issue

At this point the car is wired as Jon has described in post #20 and it will start and stay running only 10 sec to couple minutes. It simply dies like I have shut off the switch with key. I do NOT have the wire from generator attached to anything ....so I thought that might be the problem.

    Yet another electrical issue

My fault Bob. Pos side from coil is going to ignition switch, not starter.

    Yet another electrical issue

Well....following instructions provided by this forum....got it to run again tonite for a short bit. I suspect re-filing points was the answer. Once again she whould run for 30 sec to about a minute and then die. I don't have the generator hooked up because I don't have an alt. guage. So...

    Yet another electrical issue

Again, thanks for replys. I didn't get a chance to look at it over the weekend like I'd hoped. I will admit, I have "dive bombed" the trouble shooting a bit so will start at battery and work forward as many have suggested. Just to add to the list of things I've tried...I did file the points...

    Yet another electrical issue

Thanks to all for replys. I'll try opening points with paper and see what I get. I did have the car running a few days ago and now it won't fire at all. I've replace the coil and condensor (from another car I have) and neither seemed to help. Previously it would run anywhere from 10 secs...
