I would think you would want to get some miles on her to identify any problems. Check the brake lining, for sure.

    1940 Ford Family Owned Coupe

Man, what a great story! You are very lucky to have this car--a car that a lot of us would cherish. I would just go slow, realize this is a long term project, it's going to be a few years before you drive it, and enjoy the work along the way, thinking about and sharing with your heritage...

Broken crankshaft. Worth saving the rest?

We're still shaking our heads too. Maybe it was dropped before installed. ??? Ok, back to the original question, where would you go now? Thanks for any ideas, we really don't want to start all over, but...........?

Broken crankshaft. Worth saving the rest?

Bert doesn't like to do "partial" rebuilds and we are trying to respect that. We would rather not tear into the upper end at this time though, as miles since rebuild are low and all looks good up there. I just hate to tear the entire engine down for a rebuild unless it is absolutely...

Broken crankshaft. Worth saving the rest?

Trying to help out a friend without computer or tech knowledge. Model B engine. Not many miles on rebuild. Valves, pistons, rings are all looking good. Crank is broken just inside the rear flange. So now, since we need a new crank should we just get a whole engine with crank, or try to...

    49 woodie tailgate

    Sticking valve.

I have, what I believe, is a stuck valve in my 8BA flattie. Last fall, when moving the car from one garage bay to another, it ran really rough when it started, needing a LOT of throttle and sounded like it was hitting on only a few cylinders. Needing to take care of other more important...

    my first shoebox

Shoeboxes' are my favorite cars. Every family had one (3 years)--they are entrenched in Ford history. They are one of the most often customized Fords, also...and they clean up nice too. You might go over to shoeboxford.com and introduce yourself...slim

    My F1

Well it's your truck. I hate to see the swap, but then again I really can't put myself in your shoes as I can't imagine using one of these for a daily driver. My old F-2 pulls fine, stops ok, sounds great and brings a lot of attention, but I would probably be mad at it all the time if it was...
