not running outside car/ winter protection

I would opt for draining it and leaving the petcock open. If it was a good engine, I'd rather have good AF in it to combat corrosion. A non-runner is better off dry.

Buying an out of state car on the internet

Dave. Just be patient and keep looking locally. There are many, many cars within a 3 hours drive of you , just sitting in garages, as their current owners have become too old to use them or have passed away. They come up all the time. Craigslist is a good source as are estate sales. I live...

We are on Tour from Mystic Seaport and one of the A's in the group has lost his timing gear. If anyone nearby has a cam nut socket and a puller, we'd be back in business.

Available 6 volt bull horn kit?

I'm wondering the same thing. I picked up a bull horn at an estate sale last weekend and am wanting to convert the guts to 6 volt. Haven't opened it up yet, but I'm thinking that I can put the parts of a model T horn in there to make it happen. The bull horn cost a whole dollar!

What is the name of that mountain lodge and where is it located? It's an incredible looking place!

    Running rough

Take a look a your plugs. If they are sooty black, she's running rich and it could be due to the float level being set too high or other carb adjustments. If the plugs are clean, she might be too lean, due to an intake leak either at the manifold or at the carb flange. A consistent small...

    Gearing for 16 inch wheels

My 29 had 16's on it when I bought it also. I ran it that way for 5 years and was always considering doing a gearing change to make things better. She was wound up pretty tight to run along at 45 and first gear was a stump puller. This past fall, I came across a deal for 5 wire wheels, stock...

    Flasher for LED turn signals

I have 6 volt LEDs on the rear of my car and regular incadesent bulb signals on the front. I did manage to find an electronic 6 volt flasher from the Volkswagon parts people. However, it wouldn't work with the model A being a positive ground system. What I ended up doing was taking a standard...

First 4 banger, a 29 roadster having problems.

It seems the backfire has been elevated to something big here. It's not. The blue smoke is. Backfire is a matter of external tuning and mal-adjustment, related to timing and carb adjustment... Unless an intake valve is chipped and allowing the explosion within the cylinder to ignite gas vapors...

First 4 banger, a 29 roadster having problems.

Can you post a picture of the car? I was at the race this fall and shot a bunch of video clips . I would be curious to see how bad she smoked during the race . He may have run the crap of it there and then dumped it onto you. The race was cool, but seemed hellish abusive on the old girls...

    R & R Steering column

I agree with the 2 hours. I just did mine to rebuild it and it was necessary to remove the pedals and starter. It comes into the cabin and out the door. Not easy... But not terrible either.

    Model A Tires

The Plastic Bag Method...I had seen this on You Tube a while ago and took it one better. What a breeze to mount new tires. Go out to a dollar store and buy a box of 55 gallon trash bags, thin mil, such as 1.1 or so. Bolt the wheel onto your spare tire rack ( if it's on the rear of the car)...

    Model A Tires

I bought a set of 21" Lesters from Universal this past summer and am totally satisfied with them and the company. I mounted mine onto newly powder coated wheels using the plastic bag method. Man, that is the slickest way to do it ever. No tool ever touched my wheels and therefore no chips!

    Roof coating

Well, I applied the Flex Seal last night and am very pleased with the results. I masked the area off well and covered the rest of the car with bed sheets. Two cans did it, although only one coat. But as a temporary fix, that's just fine. John, we normally take my green '26 T Touring to...
