WTB - 1966 or newer FE bellhousing

No longer required. Have found one that was in good condition and fits the car. Thanks to all that responded. Ted. The original post: Looking to remove the Lakewood scattershield that's on my FE powered '66 Fairlane. Need a stock FE (390/427/428) standard trans bellhousing to make this...

    Phillps screw

Does not look like a fine thread. That screw appears to be similar to the one that fastens the road draft tube to the opening at the back of the valley cover.

56 TBird 312 Overheat at speed.

Steel shim head gaskets? If so, then it's possible that the front sections of the head gaskets have rusted through thus preventing adequate coolant flow to the back of the engine.

WTB: Harmonic damper for Ford F600 with HD 272

Need a harmonic damper for a 1955 272 HD engine that's in a F600 truck. This damper is for a Ford Y, not a Lincoln Y. Also has a rubber damper ring on it and is not a solid pulley like on the '54 engines. If you have one for sale, give me a shout back. My email address can be found at my...

    Timken a150 pinion seal

That is a shield to help protect the seal but it should not be free turning if the yoke is stationary. Those shields are normally fastened to the yoke in a crimped fashion and rotate or turn with the yoke. When the yoke is removed to replace the seal, then steps can be taken to refasten the...

    Water in oil

If all the leakage stems from just a leaking head gasket, then not a big issue to just change the head gaskets. While the heads are off the engine, this is a good time to also check them for cracks. Steel shim or composition head gaskets? Steel shim gaskets are prone to coolant seepage issues.

    y-blocks forever

The Y-Blocks Forever forums are currently down. Problems started a few weeks back with the memory for the picture files being full and new pictures could not be posted. Now the server is down to fix that problem and some routine maintenance. What was originally going to be quick fix is now...

WTB - 1966 Ford Fairlane GT trunk moulding clips

Looking for the trunk moulding clips for a 1966 Ford Fairlane GT. There are six of them. They measure ~3½" long and have what looks like a 12-24 X 3/4" stud with a nut. I can use the Ford part number is you have a catalogue showing these. My catalogues do not cover this. Thanks in advance...

Fastenal Is Now Blue Line Freight

The Fastenal outlets in my area require business accounts in order to do business with them. That stopped a lot of hobbyist or 'drop in' trade and has to make a difference on the bottom line. I will pay more for U.S.A. made and that alone has me looking for other options when it comes to...

    engine vibration

Pressure plates are always a sore spot when it comes to vibration control on an engine. After that would be the clutch disks but those disks can be isolated from the engine by simply disengaging the clutch while the engine is running and bringing the engine rpm up to see if the vibration still...

    Early version of cruise control

I also had a '61 Ford Fairlane with a 292 and 2 speed auto that had that same factory installed throttle control under the dash. The car had an automatic choke so the throttle control could have been used as a form or cruise control. No more dangerous than using a manual choke to control...

    Can 312 crankshafts fit into a 292 Y Block?

The front oil slinger behind the timing cover is the same for all 1954-1964 Ford Y engines. Likewise for the damper which is vehicle specific and not engine size specific. Just keep in mind that the Thunderbirds require a different damper than what you'll find on a passenger car, pickup, or...

    Can 312 crankshafts fit into a 292 Y Block?

When machining the 312 crankshaft to fit in the 272/292 main saddles, the 312 crankshaft rear seal surface and rear oil slinger O.D. must be also machined to the 272/292 sizes along with the main journals. Because the rear seal area is so narrow, many shops do not have a narrow grinding stone...
