    jseery health issues

I'm not one that likes to post health issues on a automotive form, but I have been thinking it is a bit weird to just disappear off the Barn as well. So, decided to post a short update. I have been battling a very aggressive cancer that has taken over almost all of my time and energy. Strange...

He told me he was having a really hard time and might have a hard time responding. I know that doesn't really compute with wanting to sell them, but guess it is what it is.

    Best Flathead books

It somewhat depends are where your interest lie. JWL's book is a good reference on performance, also Ron's. I also like these other books. I like the Chassis reference books on the CD.

    Battery polarity

Need to check out a few things first. Is it 6v or 12v? If 12v it is probably neg grounded. If 6v, it will take a little more checking. What type of coil does it have, as in attached to the distributor or a "can" coil? What type of generator does it have?

    1949 Merc 8CM engine

If you do not intend to reuse the valves/springs (I never do) it is a lot easier to just cut the valves, springs, etc to get them out. If the pistons are stuck to the point it is difficult to get them out without beating on them, cutting the center out of them can help a lot with removal...

Post for STAN WHITE on 59a Engines for sell

This is a post for STAN WHITE, so all communication needs to be with him as I have no information on these engines. "Not your average Flathead, Built by the best, Ed Bingly of Bings Speed Shop in Santa Rosa, Cal. Call for more info. 775 265 5333 Might leave message? Stan White."

That is what I was thinking, but didn't want to violate some prime directive! He could (I'm thinking) post the for sale information there and just reference the photos here??

Believe he wants them posted in the Swap Meet section, but not totally sure how to do that for someone else. Anyone familiar with posting for someone else (photos only, I'm not in the middle of any transactions) in the Swap Meet? I know I can post for myself, but can not respond to post by...

Is "Superior Car Parts, Inc" still in business?

To some degree it is all relative, U.S. parts cost more to produce, but in a lot of cases the quality more than offsets the price. And, balance of trade ends up costing us in the end anyway!

    Ignition resistors

The resistors on the 6v ignitions is a ballast resistor, which means it changes resistance as it heats up. It is more a factor of how the system is designed, you can use a "can" coil with a 6v and it does not require a ballast resistor. Ford designed to coil to work at a lower voltage combined...

    upper radiator hoses

Agree, 160 is a bit cool, I would use 180 min, 185-190 better.

    Sticky brakes

If the shoes are not retracting, or retracting slowly, could be the flexible brake hose going to the wheel cylinders (front). With age they can collapse internally and act like a one-way valve.
