Can I just turn the key to start? I am going to buy a new battery. The battery I have is a used one I bought that I have to re-charge after each attempt.

I believe my truck is Negative grounded. The Negative terminal on battery is connected to the engine.

I followed your directions. I was a little confused about the final wire connection to start the truck.

@pistonbroke thanks for the great response. 1. I know about the front fender issue. At some point I am going to buy lower replacement panels. 2. I included a picture of the 12v coil. 3. I will try your other recommendation with the wiring.

Kind of bummed. It did the same thing. Cranked sounded like it tried to turn over but everything stopped and left the starter engaged and running.

I flipped the starter solenoid and cleaned all the connections. I will attempt to start it today.

Do I need to take into account that the engine was swapped to a v8 from 6 and the battery is on the driver's side? Or just hook the wires up as the diagram shows and run the wires to the connections? I am sorry for my lack of knowledge. I really do appreciate the help.

There was a time that I turned the key off and the starter was still running.

The gauges are not hooked up or partially hooked up. I will take a picture when I get home. The ignition switch is like you describe but does not snap back when released like a modern car.

Yes that does sound like what I have experienced. So chances are it is the bendix problem in your opinion?
