    Cam Gear

Distributor gear looked 👌. But funny enough you bring up compression. The needle did on the compression gage would seem to moved out of sync. Then there was a " Bloop" sound the would sound like it went down the exhaust pipe. That's when my friend called it. Said the Crack was in compression...

    Cam Gear

My Mercury 255 has starting issues. FUEL ✔️ Compression ✔️ IGNITION 👎 The conclusion ce to be timing jumped. So the suspect is the FIBER cam gear. My question is can I get away with just change the Cam gear only with a new FIBER gear or would I have to change out the Crank gear too?

Thanks guys for the suggestions, I'll talk to a machinist here at work and ask if they can turn it down for me. When I was talking of grinding I didn't think on a lathe, and I just wasn't sure if the bore on the timing gear cover is tapered or straight. Let me find a machinist I can become...

    59A/B intake Pcv valve conversion

I thought of that, just drilling a hole to put the PCV valve there only, and using the current oil fill tube in the back and leave the breather cap there and let it flow from back to front then vacuum in the manifold.

    59A/B intake Pcv valve conversion

Thank you for your input! I guess I could follow the first steps, drilling and installing the PCV valve up front, and connecting it the carburetor base where there is currently a vacuum connection.

    59A/B intake Pcv valve conversion

Looking at the first illustration, won't the direction of the TEAL arrows go the opposite way, as the Vacuum at the carburetor base be going In/Down the intake into the cylinders?

Hey guys, I'm looking for info on a pcv valve conversion for a 59A/B intake. I tried to do a search but came up empty. I have a 255 8CM Mercury, and currently running the PCV valve where the old down draft was before. Earlier this year I came across a deal I couldn't pass up on, a pair of...
