Still Worried About the Antique Car Hobby Being Dead or Dying??

While it is great to hear that MAFCA is getting new members and are approaching a new record high, how does that compare to how many we are losing or members actually participating? Our local club has been steadily in decline, both in membership and participation, for a few years. If we don't...

    “B” Grind Cam

Re: “B” Grind Cam I wouldn't use a Model B head, they use the 3 bolt water pump that is hard to get parts for. To answer your question, a Model B has a compression ratio of 4.6.

    Transmission Oil Temperature

Since the original oil was a single grade and heavier than your GL-4 140, I would guess that your 140 should work OK tho I have never tried it. That said, Steve Mitchell sez to use GL-5 85W-140 in his transmissions and O/D. Also sez NOT to use 600W from the vendors.

    glass experience

Most 'Moderns' use tempered glass in the side windows. easier to shatter and get out of car in an accident. You can not get out of a car with laminated glass. That is why laminated glass is mandated for windshields, so you don't go thru it. I would look at safety above all other reasons.

More kudos for Snyder's Antique Auto

I agree, Snyder's is one of the best and my #1 go to. My only complaint is their search engine on the online catalog is one of the worst. I find a lot of the time, if I didn't have a hard copy of their catalog to get a part number, I would not be able to find the part I need. Very frustrating.
