32 stock v8 tudor steering very hard

Thanks for the replys, I can see whats involved now. I dont have any access to club pullers in the UK, but I dont see why we cant come up with something using a bearing separator. I will let you know how I get on. Apologies to Abone for messing his thread up, I hope you fix the stiff steering.

    Model B front end question

Dick I have a very saggy front spring on my 32 Tudor (V8), and have had it in the back of my mind to find/make a new spring. I have had springs re-set on other old cars I have owned, but found they all too soon regress to their old saggy form. Even though the steel is re-tempered during the...

32 stock v8 tudor steering very hard

I am going to do this job on my 32 Tudor. I have searched the forum briefly and not found a post which "walks" the reader through the process from beginning to end, so I will try to do a good job with photos etc. I do not have a steering wheel puller, so something will have to be made to do this...

I think the rubber bearing in my Tudor is toast. How hard is the roller bearing to install?

Reason for electric fp at rear

Mike, would it work if you just put a check valve between the original Ford pump and the carb? Then the fuel never drains back, and there would not be a problem with the old mech pump running dry? Seems alot simpler than all these elecric pump solutions, or what am I missing? Cheers, Tom.

    Need Rewiring Help

Im with Drolson and DrBrown. The wiring on a Ford is very straight forward. (I suppose my 32 was maybe a little more basic?). I bought a wiring loom which was excellent quality and it came with very clear instructions. Mine was split into 2 parts, basically behind the dash and under the hood. I...

    6 V Lithium Jump Start?

I bought a Stark Power Li-ion pack, which is very small, about 7 inches by 4 by 1 1/2. So small can now be carried under seat for emergency start. It is 12 volts only, but works a treat on our standard 6v Model A. BUT, I made the mistake of cranking for too long and it melted one of the leads...

    Phaeton hood/top saddle

I noticed your post about the ignition lever being reversed. I wonder if somebody in the past has replaced the bell crank on your manifold the wrong way up. This would reverse the direction of movement. Dont ask me how I know this! Post a photo and it will become clear. Cheers for now, Tom.

    Headlight relay good idea?

The great advantage of the relay whatever the current draw is the better electrical connection in the switching process. Not so much with 12v but still may be worth considering if you are using the original Ford light switch.

    Head removal/any tips?

Make 2 of these: cut a piece of 3/4" id tube about 10" long and weld over an old spark plug. Weld a 6" long piece of same tube to the top to make a T, which is the handle. Screw each into front and back plug hole, you can rock them to break the seal, and then use them to pull the head.

    flathead ran with no oil

Glennpm has it right. You need to get some oil to the mains and rod bearings, then take the plugs out and crank it on the starter till you get oil pressure on the gauge. Also stick some oil down the cylinders. The bearings will have got hot and maybe are shot, maybe not. Before you do anything...

    Low Compression

Get a hand seat cutter, see if she ll come back to clean seat in that worst bit, grind in the valve and get on. That all looks fine to me, the corrosion is around the water holes is just where gasket holes are bigger. Be careful to not disturb too much crap, and use old gasket. If yr short of...

    Downdraft Carburetors?

Hi RS Going weak to rich: TS, TD, SY, RW, RE. Try SY, then go up or down. A Lambda sensor is a great help here, or good rolling road.

    3rd brush question

With respect, with regard to the Fun Projects voltage regulator, the instructions state very clearly that you dont set the 3rd brush to max. You start with fully charged battery, and the 3rd brush moved to lowest output position, run engine at max generator output revs, turn on all lights...

Ford lifters on an Iskendarian cam

Well Murre it all depends on the design. If you put the centre line of the cam lobe off from of the centre line of the follower, grind a radius on the follower, and an angle on the face of the cam lobe, the follower will rotate and the wear will be reduced. If the V8 is not specifically designed...
