seeking photo: T descends steep embankment

I've seen a period photo -- maybe even a film clip -- of a Model T descending an impossibly steep bank of a creek bed (?). The suspension is twisted and contorted in a way that really displays the flexibility of the Ford design. Can anybody post such a picture or video? Thanks!

    wanted: 40 standard hood ornament

I need a '40 Standard hood ornament for cheap (~$25). Condition unimportant as long as the main casting is still in one piece. Tony (310) 831-1216 or carguy44@earthlink.net

    '42-'48 Convertible windshield gasket

The Carpenter catalog lists only one seal for '42-48 with chrome, both convertible and closed car, and that's the one I bought (Not disputing you, Supereal, just recounting my experience). Drake DOES list two different seals: 21A-7003110-B for closed cars with trim, and 21A-7603110 (no suffix)...

    '42-'48 Convertible windshield gasket

Thanks, Paul. I am aware that there are two different gaskets, and I'm pretty certain that the one we have is correct for the stainless trim -- the three grooves would be (1) glass, (2) pinch weld, and (3) stainless. Is glass installation discussed in any of the Ford shop manuals of the period?

    '42-'48 Convertible windshield gasket

This mystery is not yet solved. I posted this picture a while back, illustrating the way we were trying to install the stainless in the gasket: We were trying to fit the windshield glass into the same wide groove as the straight leg of the stainless, and sliding the narrow groove of the gasket...

    '42-'48 Convertible windshield gasket

Our windshield stainless project has not gone well. Here's the '42 convertible from which we took the dimensions used to construct our windshield frame. Notice the appearance of the stainless: Here's our windshield frame. The cross section of the frame and its pinch weld is an accurate copy...

41-48 windshield divider bar: ignorant question

I do understand (roughly) the windshield construction of a '40 convert, but that is irrelevant to my vehicle. Mine started out as a '40 coupe, but the top that we've built is intended to replicate a postwar convertible top, so the windshield (as far as I know) is the same whether a convert or a...

41-48 windshield divider bar: ignorant question

Sorry, guys, but this still is not crystal clear. I think I get that there are a total of THREE pieces; the outer stainless piece (shown on the left in meric's post above) has an inner part with threaded sleeves, not shown. The part that is visible on the interior of the car is the painted piece...

41-48 windshield divider bar: ignorant question

Whoops -- here's where I'm confused. I've seen the inner piece with the threaded inserts. Is that considered to be part of the stainless cover, and is the painted inner piece then the THIRD part to the whole assembly?

41-48 windshield divider bar: ignorant question

So, to clarify for me, the painted piece is the actual divider bar, and there's a stainless cover on the outside -- there's no more than that. Right? The stainless pieces that wrap around each side fit into the rubber gasket and go around the glass panes, but are not part of the divider bar --...

41-48 windshield divider bar: ignorant question

I am missing this bar entirely for my phantom convertible (the car is a '40 Ford, but the top is a faux '42-'48 convertible). I'm not clear if the original part is in two or three pieces, including the stainless trim on the outside. Can somebody clarify for me?

    '42-'48 Convertible windshield gasket

I find that Carpenter lists a gasket with part # 11A-7003110-B, while Drake shows # 21A-7603110. Both are supposed to be for '42-'48 Ford cars with stainless inserts. As some of you know, my car is actually a fake, but we have tried to build a windshield frame that's an accurate copy of a '42...

'39 Stainless side trim -- Drake vs Carpenter?

I would think so, but Drake shows different numbers: 91A-7720934 Cvt Cpe RH 91A-7720935 Cvt Cpe LH 91A-7020934 Tudor RH 91A-7020935 Tudor LH ...and in the online catalog, the prices are $40 Cvt, $35 Tudor. I wrote them an email asking the difference, and why the absence of the hood trim from...

'39 Stainless side trim -- Drake vs Carpenter?

I didn't say anything about a Fordor. I presume that the curve of the quarter trim is similar between a convert and a coupe, although the convert would be shorter at the front by the 6" difference in the length of the doors. I was saying that I could use the COUPE quarter trim, and shorten it at...

'39 Stainless side trim -- Drake vs Carpenter?

Thanks for the advice. Because my car has sedan doors, I shouldn't have a problem there -- although I still don't understand how the 2dr sedan and convertible door trims are different. My quarters are shorter, as on a convertible, but I think we may have to cut the trim short at the fender...

'39 Stainless side trim -- Drake vs Carpenter?

Yes, I would consider buying gennie parts. I had imagined that original '39 trim would be a bit scarce, and would of course involve additional expense for polishing. From your comment I guess it's fairly readily available? I have mixed original and repop trim on my '50, and the difference was...

'39 Stainless side trim -- Drake vs Carpenter?

This is certainly an important consideration. Anyone else have any specific experience on this point, and does the sharpness of the vee differ among the various vendors' products? Since my car is a fake anyway, the softer vee would be a minor upset, but I certainly wouldn't want to mix parts...
