The forum is a great resource...data and members. I've been to swap meets, bought parts in AR, MS, LA, OK, TN, TX, IN, MI...all over....buying and selling...learning. The older flathead guys are so nice, and helpful. The "younger" folks are too, but I really enjoy learning and listening to...

It is a MSD Pro Billet #8573. GM small cap HEI 3-wire for Flatheads.

You are a veteran i see!! Absolutely true.

Though I have a automotive background, I knew nothing about flatheads when I started 18 months ago. Since then I have been through seven engines, built three and have one more in-work A few members gave public and private advice and I wanted to say thank you to: petehoovie, tubman, 19fordy...

Hello, Does anyone have any insight on a reputable flathead machine shop or builder near Arkansas? Ty

I'm going to pass. However I talked to the seller for over an hour. He did say he thought it was 3 3/16 bore. It was pulled from a Army vehicle, rebuilt and the owner decided to go SBC. If any would like his contact let me know. He was very helpful and seemed honest.

Incredible literature...ty for the link.

Gotcha. Thanks.

Im on the fence because i agree on the later blocks for so many reasons. They (any flathead) are few and far between in AR. $1600 is asking price. Has 2 holley 94s and a bell housing adapter for the T5 as well. Ty

Evening, As mentioned before, I have a lot of parts, but so far no good block. I have the opportunity to buy a "L" motor. It is assembled and running. It has gauges and on a test stand. It is not new, but was rebulit about 12 years ago. It has been run but not installed since then. It...

That is all great info. Ty! I knew that (59 blocks)...dumb. But thanks for clarification. I'll keep working on the block, and then dive in to these details. I like the idea of new block and crank with older heads, and chevy distributor. Really good looking set up as well...

As was stated in a previous post I am new in the flathead game. Im putting all the varieties of these flatheads and parts into context and working to understand what is compatible across the years. I understand the main variants and where the main year categories split. I have a 41, 47 and...

I removed the terminology that you found offensive and replaced it with something more accurate after you rudely advised me of my fuax pas. It was not intended to be dishonest.

Thank you.

Lol, that made me laugh (saw blades). I read for a long time, and this is THE forum for flathead. I'm in the motor section for motor advice. My build is something that won't embarrass myself. I admire the ingenuity as much as detail such as paint marks and spark plug indexing. I see talent...

Thank you for the support. Though I must say I'm not young. I've been around 50 years now. I'm just young/new to flathead. The history, heritage and rarity deserve to be respected and protected. Ty again.

Thanks, I'm learning that. It's like poker, pay just to get a seat at the table, pay more to learn you lost. I have read the truck blocks are sometimes a better bet due to upgraded cooling capacity.

Anyway, mods you can delete my account.
