I converted my 47 to an alternator last summer. I used the 1 wire unit, it also came with a smaller pulley on it. My car is still positive ground and I have it running through the original ammeter. I've been more than happy with it.

X2 on the pilot bearing. Did you get charged for a new one?

I would talk to the people who are going to grind the crank what they prefer you use for bearings. I would consider having the connecting rods re-sized if it was my engine.

Try a pressure bleeder.

I would recommend using some alcohol to flush the system before filling it with the silicone brake fluid (dot 5).

When replacing the radius rod rubber does it make a difference if the jack stands are placed under the front axle or should they be under the frame rail?

If you didn't install a voltage dropping resistor you probably fried your gauges

Looks like you are running the stock 6 volt and still have a generator. The Pertronix ignition requires lots of constant voltage to work correctly. Make sure that you have battery voltage going to distributor. The symptoms you are describing sound like the issues I had with my '47 and I also...
