    Battery

I own a 29 Sport Coupe. I left the parking lights on overnight and the 6V battery went stone dead. I put a charger on it for 5 or 6 hours and charged it enough to start. The ammeter showed it was charging more than 20 amps and finally after several trips around town the reading went down to 10...

    Transmission

While reinstalling the shifting tower on my '30 Tudor I dropped a washer from one of the bolts into the transmission case. I drained the oil out of the case but I cannot see the washer or feel it. I have tried a flexible magnet but no luck. Anyone else made the same dumb mistake? Is there any...

    Speedometer

Does anyone know if the fellow in North Carolina still does speedometer rebuilds? I used him several years ago and was happy with the work and quick turnaround. I can't find his name or phone number anywhere.

    29 Sport Coupe won't start

Finally got the 29 Sport Coupe running. It was something in the distributor. Very labor intensive (for Me anyway) but followed the step by step and finally chased it down. Thanks guys.

    29 Sport Coup won't fire

Yes, the car ran previously and I do have lights and horn. I went thriugh the distributor to check for shorts, replaced and regaped the points and replaced the condenser. I removed the rubber insulator from the coil(if that was what it was supposed to be) and jumped across the terminals in the...

    29 Sport Coup won't fire

I replaced the coil. It came with a small sheet of rubber which I assumed was to insulate the coil from the firewall and clamp. Was I mistaken and the coil needs to ground to the firewall and clamp? What was the sheet of rubber included for?

    29 Sport Coup won't fire

There is fuel flow and good compression. No spark from coil wire.

    29 Sport Coup won't fire

I have checked the continuity in all the wires. The safety fuse at the starter is not blown, the ignition switch is good. Rebuilt distributor, carb, alternator. New battery, Engine turns over well. Timing has been checked and rechecked but she won't fire. I have spent many hours with local Model...

    Rough running cold.

I cleaned and gapped points and plugs. Am using fresh gas with MMO. Tried different settings on GAV (the knob turns the rod). Replaced Bakalite distributor body. New manifold gaskets. Compensated for backlash when I retimed it (it does not over heat). Runs fine down the road once warmed up...

    Rough running cold.

I replaced the manifold gaskets today but she still is acting up. While she sat for two months due to a starter/flywheel problem I never fiddled with the distributor or carbuerator so I am still in the dark. I know what the GAV is and use it as necessary. I will press on. Happy New Year.

    Rough running cold.

I cleaned the points and re gapped them when I reset the timing. I run Mystery oil in it all the time. I have a manifold gasket and will try that tomorrow.
