New exhaust manifold painting and mounting hardware

I got a new exhaust manifold for my 1931 Model A Roadster from PVFord, it came in unfinished metal oiled. it was suggested that I paint it to prevent rust. This is not for a show condition car, mostly function (authentic within reason). Anyways I was told the engine will get up to about 1200...

    Muffler flange repairable?

Thanks for all the helpful advise. I did stop in a Meineke and showed them a picture of the flange and the response was that if it was a straight section of pipe the fix would be simple, the flange makes it difficult. I'll probably take it off and take in another mechanic for a 2nd opinion...

    Muffler flange repairable?

I just took off my muffler clamp and noticed part of the muffler flange broke off, as shown in attached image. I was about to replace my manifold seal when taking this off - maybe this was the source of the noise to begin with. I see a new muffler will cost me $155, which I can pick up...

Trouble installing an Accelerator linkage rod spring

After posting this and looking closer at the 2nd picture, I realize I probably need to lift the floor boards up to get at those two nuts, remove the entire linkage, install, then put it back. Right? This is a late 1931 Model A Roadster, by the way.

Trouble installing an Accelerator linkage rod spring

I found that the spring that pushes my gas pedal back up was broken, so I got a replacement and tried to install it by slipping over the rod, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to hook it up. First image below shows before and after pics of the old spring before I removed it (on left)...
