Transmision and Rear End Fluid question.

Hello, Yes, I use straight STP in the Trans, I not done the rear-end yet, but it will be STP also. I double clutch too, I think it works fine, but do not expect to much from it. I was told about this from a another Model "A" guy.

    Wrecking yard-101

Back, many moons ago, I worked at a local "Auto Salvage" after school. The man I worked for was very grumpy, he had open the yard (about 25 acres) from the early 1920s till the 1970s. A guy found a Radiator for his mid 20s Chevy. On talking to the owner, the price was $40 was givin, the guy...

    Transmission Rebuild about to begin

I did not re-build my own trans., this time (my hands shake too much), but had a well known guy do it for me. He put 90W gear oil in it and it grinds bad! Put the right oil in and you will be fine, I did one a few years ago and remember thinking how easy it was. Good Luck!

    Garage lifts

Before I moved up-here in Colorado, I had a "Lift" put in on my old place. Yes ,it could hoist a much bigger car or truck then an "A", but it was used and from a closed gas station and total cost installed, around $600. And it worked great! Ken

    Driving in rain and snow..

Living in the mountains, we do get some bad weather. I find it comes down to two things for me on Ice and Snow. The right kind of tires is number one with me, I find traction tires on the rear (mud and snow type) work best for me in the Snow and on ice, plus I carry snow chains, but yet to use...

    Need Advice badly

Not to highjack this, but to address a few things I would agree with you on this, but for a few reasons: Reason one, the motor was done by a well known re-builder, who would not even call me back. Reason two: parts like this should I think, have some quality control from the factory. Reason...

    Need Advice badly

I had a problem like this come in to my shop, a fresh re-build also, pulled the head and found the Head Gasket did not have all the water passages punched totally out. They where 3/4 through, but not all the way. The Maker said only "sorry" when asked for the repair cost, but did send a new...

    Superstitions

I just got a P.M. saying I sounded like I thought EVERY Model "A" should do a Cow Bell. NO, I never said that! I just feel we as owners can pass these old tales on if we want. How, is totally up to you. Ken
