Model A tech advisors team from Paul Shinn

Paul Shinn does a great job at explaining and publicizing the Model A Ford. Keep up the good work. As far as expert advice, I have seen much expert advice (and have it UN-expert-ed by the next expert) over the last 54 years since I bought my A. Most publications have some mistakes. No comment...

    Hershey...How was it??????

Hershey is always fun, but every year means more walking and less viewing. My first year 1973. I went every year the USN didn't have me deployed somewhere around the world until 1978. I missed a lot of years due to work, lack of funds until the mid-nineties and then attended almost every year...

    Pickup Bed Options

Great idea. Years back when I was farming on five or six different places my son and I built a bed with boxes on both sides divided for different uses. It was not pretty, we were in a hurry and it didn't matter, but it worked. If you use hemlock it will last forever. and age nicely. Use...

    Old car insurance

I had an accident in my wife's 1965 Mustang (not my fault- another old dude pulled out in front of me) and although it took a long time while trying to get it repaired American Collector's finally totaled it and paid promptly. My other three antiques are still insured through them.

    Tow Insurance

I have my four antique automobiles ensured with them and selected up to $50 towing since I seldom will be far from home. If I take a trip I can use AAA which I also have. I am very happy with the company and no no more expensive than other companies.

    Tow Insurance

American Collector's Insurance tow coverage. "We will pay towing and labor costs incurred each time "your covered auto" or any "non-owned auto" is disabled, up to the amount shown in the Schedule or in the Declarations as applicable to that vehicle but in no event less than $25 per disablement...

Any light problem, ever, check your grounds. Don't ask me how I know. Seriously, check grounds to lights and to frame.

If you put an LED bulb in it you will have more light, less current draw and it WON'T burn your fingers.

    Preferred parts vendors

I have probably used every vendor mentioned here and lately it comes down to shipping. Some vendors ONLY ship UPS or FEDEX and the charges they pass on are actually upcharges as far as I can tell. Therefore I shop carefully if I can't get it from the one small local vendor near me. Brattons is...

Ahooga Horn motor spins real slow

    Check your grounds
  16. T

I was thinking of changing to 12 volt negative ground.

WHY? cellphone only uses 5 v, the plug limits it. Good grounds, and 6 v starts Model A no problem. Alternator IS an improvement.

    1928 roadster pickup top question

Beautiful old pickup. Drive it! I think we modern spoiled people need to remember the 1928 pickup we are talking about was replacing a Model T. Or nothing, as the new owner might have been lugging his tool box on a trolley, or pulling a cart behind his horse. Lack of windows probably never...

Off topic: If you were 18 again?

I majored in Accounting. Decided in senior year I never wanted to do it. 1960 US Army wanted to draft me. Married the best woman I've ever known. Joined USN to be a non-pilot flight officer. Decided to make it a career. Retired after twenty and ended u p being a wholesale sales rep for 19 years...
