I've been driving around town for three years with her like this.

    Change coupe to roadster?

Just thinking of a temporary thing until I can afford all the wood to rebuild my cab. In another question, I once saw a supplier that sold a metal coupe roof insert. My coupe had a home-made metal roof before I tore it all down and started over. My "Bessie" was in parts all over the property for...

    Change coupe to roadster?

Years ago I think I saw a "universal top kit" that could possibly be adapted to give my 1929 Coupe a fold-down soft top. Is something like that available?

    Inner tube advice needed

To the Master Cylinder: all the holes in the tubes showed up on the part where they touch the rim liners which are perfectly smooth.

    Inner tube advice needed

My old one was made in China. My newest one was made in Vietnam. I'm going to order one from Brattons and hope theirs is better.

    Inner tube advice needed

Little tiny holes on the inner part, next to the rubber stem. I need to pick up some new patches and cement and try again. When I go to town tomorrow, I will ask the guys at the tire store....maybe they have some vulcanizing patches they can install next time. Thanks for the advice.

    Inner tube advice needed

Do any of the suppliers sell a heavy-duty 21 inch inner tube? I patched, installed, re-patched, installed my older one....another leak! Gave up. Got my new one installed today......new leak. Patched, installed.....still leaked around my new patch after I made sure it didn't leak before I put...

Horn rod moves with steering wheel

I drilled out the first inch of the light tube, got the steering wheel a little farther down, and used a little emery cloth on the last inch of the horn rod, put a little grease there, and put on the brass bushing. So....it's all together and working. We'll see how it works once I swap this...

Horn rod moves with steering wheel

I think I have it fixed. Everything is back together and the light switch does not move when I turn the wheel. Thanks for all the good ideas. Model A people are the best!

Horn rod moves with steering wheel

No paint or goo that I can see. I am going to use a small file to clean up the splines and go from there. I put some "never-sieze" on them when I had it on, so it was pretty easy to tap it off with my hammer. Too hot to work on it this afternoon....close to 100 in my garage.

Horn rod moves with steering wheel

I think the problem is this: the steering wheel hub did not seat down on the steering column far enough. The horn tube did not stick out past the steering wheel nut. Should I clean up the splines so that the wheel will go on farther? On my coupe with the current steering column, the wheel is...

Horn rod moves with steering wheel

I got the brass bushing, so I will use some ideas to make it all work. Thanks for all the good suggestions.

    king pin locking bolt

I just noticed last week that one of my king pin locking pins had fallen out! Checking back in my manuals, I see that the pin should be driven in from the front of the axle and then the nut and lock washer put on the back. The passenger side pin is still there, but I put it in from the back and...

Horn rod moves with steering wheel

My horn rod is brand new and perfectly straight. Everything works perfectly until I compress the spring and slip the clip on the shaft to hold the spider on. That apparently pulls the top of the shaft tightly to the horn button assembly and it then turns with the steering wheel. Maybe when I...

Horn rod moves with steering wheel

I have everything back together on my 7-tooth steering shaft, and the light/horn rod works just fine until I attach the spider at the bottom. I have seen on other threads that there is a thin light rod bushing that is supposed to fit in the tube to space the rod away from the steering wheel...

Is this a standard 21" Model A wheel?

So far so good. This wheel matches the ones on the car. I forgot I had another one that is in better condition....but I am going to use this one and use the other one when I can afford a new tire. I got most of the rough rust off and have sprayed them with gloss black Rustoleum (like the rest of...

    7-tooth Sector problem

Never mind! I had the thrust screw on the wrong side of the cover! Sometimes it's the simple things we miss.

    7-tooth Sector problem

I am installing a new 7-tooth sector shaft, but even with the thrust washer on the shaft and without the gasket, the sector thrust screw does not reach the end of the shaft until it is farther in than it leaves any threads for the jam nut! What am I missing?

Is this a standard 21" Model A wheel?

I am sure that I could find a really nice used one, but out here conveniently situated in the middle of nowhere, I don't mind trying to make do.
