So, after further conversation with Merc Cruzer, I think that there is a chance that out of the three Bendix's that I have they are all excessively worn and or incorrect. I cleaned them up and they do not spring back as they should. When the starter is bolted in the car, the Bendix is already...

I made sure all of my connections are up to snuff and the battery has been trickle charged. I have a redtop optima 6v. Thanks for tips!

If needed I have a video but am unsure how to attach it. I could send in an email or via phone. (Photo of my engine to try and lighten the mood)

Good evening, I have been messing around with my 1953 Mercury since thanksgiving. I had taken the whole powertrain out and did an engine rebuild, and a light rebuild on my Mercomatic Transmission. I have gotten to the point where I want to start the car for the first time since purchasing it...

it was a marketplace find just 15 minutes from my house. He had over 100+ fords mainly 57's and 58's a couple Edsel's and some Buicks. Unfortunately, I feel now that I paid too much for the car, but I did get better bumpers and driving lights off of this one.

I don't think I'll make it to a swap meet down that far, but I have 2 sets of extra taillamp housings that are fairly pitted, if you want ill send you a direct message with my contact info if you are interested.

I really have enjoyed watching your videos. Unfortunately, the whole floor of the car is framed with wood and covered in fiberglass. from the mid door down is nothing but Bondo. When I bought it, I was going to use it for patch panels, but it is a goner. The interior is in great shape other than...

Here are some photos that I have in my phone for now, unfortunately we just got a ton of snow and Ice, so the car is completely covered. I am planning to completely strip it and then scrap the frame and the body due to the frame being rotted through and the body not being much better. complete...

Ok, I think for now I will stick with what I have. Hopefully everything works. replaced the whole harness with an original style cloth covered in the car. I just got the last couple things I needed to complete the dash and engine wiring. I am hoping to start the car for the first time since...

I did not convert my car to 12v, I am keeping it 6v and I am keeping the original gauges except the amp gauge. I am running a power Gen alternator and was told by the manufacturer to not hook up the amp gauge because it could cause a fire if overloaded due to a higher current. I have a flathead...

I notice when looking at the instructions it had a control arm spreader tool. Is this something that you needed? or did you just replace the bushings/seals? thanks!

Good evening, I have a 1953 Mercury Monterey with an 8BA flathead that is 6-volt positive ground. I understand that the gauges that come factory are not completely reliable and am looking to add aftermarket gauges to my car. I have looked for older style gauges and have stumbled across the...

I am currently finishing up replacing the leaf springs on my car and will be starting the front suspension in the next week. I purchased the rebuild kit from shoebox central. does anybody have any tips or tricks for this process? I have done suspension work on newer vehicles but nothing that had...

That is correct, this is what they look like off of the 1953 mercury.

I have the Lenses; I am looking for the actual housings. Mine are rotted out and not salvageable. Thank you for the quick response!!

Good evening, I am newer to the forum and am looking for parts for my 1953 Mercury Monterey. I am looking for a clean set of Park Lamps housings that are in the front bumper. Mine turned to dust when I removed them to clean them up unfortunately. Also, if you are parting out any cars or have any...
