I was having a leaking problem with my 55 Bird ( That seems to have a 57 power steering unit ) . No one lists parts to rebuild the power steering valve assembly unit. Parts are only listed from 68 and later Mustang. I ordered CarQuest part # 35165 and it has all the parts you need to do the job...

Time to solve your problem... Wait until it gets dark and start the car and have someone hit the gas hard for a brief time and look for sparks. When you see them you will know what is causing the breaking up. If after all you have done you do not see any sparks then look for a fuel problem Larry

Sorry Guys, I have changed out the battery cable and the battery and I do use a kill switch when the car is sitting. I agree with you that it is an electrolysis problem but I do not know where it is coming from. The battery cables are lead ended not the steel clamp shell type. Hey thanks for...
