best way to fit glass in 37, 38, 39 windshield frame

I use WD40 for both removing and replacing glass in my 39 (37 frame). there are different thickness tapes, so make sure your tape is not too thick for the fit. Once the tape is applied to the glass, spray it with WD40. That will soften the tape and allow it to slide into the frame. If it dries...

    Stainless steel '36 sedan

I saw one of the missing (Cleveland) cars over 50 years ago when I worked at a Sunoco station on the far east side of Cleveland. It was really bright, but not polished like that one. It drove by the station a couple of times, then I never saw it again. I asked my dad who was a Ford mechanic, he...

    55 Ford car vent window

I have done this with 56 vents. Liberal amount of WD40 (softens up glass tape) will allow you to wiggle the glass out, spray it on new tape to install. WD 40 will evaporate and glass will be tightly in place. Old glass installer taught me that trick. Paul Selfe.

    Removing 8BA oil fill tube

Heat up the tube with a propane torch (it won't need a lot of heat) then melt some candle wax around the base of the pipe. Then tap the top of the pipe all around (as someone else said), it should loosen so you can twist it out. Paul Selfe.

tool to remove a pipe plug?

I have a tool about 15 in. long with a 3/8 sq. hole on one end and a 1/2 in. sq. hole on the other. Very sturdy, it belonged to my father who was an old time Ford mechanic. I believe it was used for just that purpose, removing square head plugs. Paul Selfe.

    Halogen bulbs

I installed 12V. Halogens on my 39 std. with new reflectors, relays and clear lenses. When I bought them I was advised to use the clear lenses, as the halogen bulbs don't do well with faceted lenses. The first time I used them on the road I had everyone flashing back at me. I had to adjust them...

Ralphie's house is in Cleveland (now a museum) and the Higbee store where the window scenes were shot is now the Horseshoe Casino on public square. 8ba flywheel and clutch question

Sounds like you may have a flywheel drilled for a Borg & Beck (Mercury style) pressure plate. A very suitable alternative , and I would think available through Napa etc.. Paul Selfe.

    Broken door latch

TJ, I figured that's what I would do, and it looks like it was done once before (welded pin). Yes, 150 bucks for a pair of (who knows from where made) replacement latches is not what I would like to do. Thanks for the responses. Paul Selfe.
