    1936 Engine Problem

Yesterday was my 92nd birthday and my wife and I decided to celebrate it at our place in the country where I keep my old Fords. We hadn’t been there for a long time due to travel and medical problems. I wanted to drive my ’34 roadster to one of our favorite restaurants for lunch. I got the car...

How old is too old to work on Model A's???

I'm 91 and I still have my '28 roadster. I haven't worked on it for a while, but I take it for a drive every few months or so. My biggest problem is getting in and out of the thing.

    Not bad, not bad...for 55K

Pete, I agree with you about white-wall tires. Mine had double sided ones on it when I bought it and they were dry rotted, so I replaced them with black walls. I'm now getting around to replacing those black-walls and they are quite pricey.

    Not bad, not bad...for 55K

I really like that car except for the fender skirts and luggage rack. I was born in 1934 and have owned 2 1934 roadsters. I bought the first one in 1954 and sold it in 1958, shortly after I got through with my 2-year stint in the army. I missed that car and bought my current one in 1994 and I...

    Calming Down a 6v Starter on 12v?

About 15 years ago the starter on my '34 roadster went out. I gave the starter to a member of our club who specialized in generator and starter repairs. He said that it needed a part which he didn't have and that it would take a while to get it fixed. After a few weeks I got tired of waiting so...

Why am I being asked to verify?

When I sign on, I get that message and after a few seconds I get signed on without doing anything.

    Tire Tube Needed

Jay, that's not my only concern. Looking at it, I think that the stem is a bit too thick and I would need to trim it or enlarge the hole in the wheel. I've already paid Coker for the new tube and will wait until it comes. Thanks to you and everybody else whose been trying to help me with this.

    Tire Tube Needed

Pete, I think that this tube might be the same as the one Coker sent me. I'm just going to wait the 3 months to get the one I ordered from them.

    Tire Tube Needed

Bob, I believe that this is the same tube that Coker sent to me with the new tire. I was surprised that the tube was at least 3 time the weight of the old tube. Coker is supposed to send me the correct tube when they are available in about 3 months. I'm in no hurry because of the cold weather...

Forty, I just checked with Speedway and they don't carry them.

    Tire Tube Needed

5150, I looked at the Tractor Supply website and don't see that size tube. I do know that the tube stem needs to be at the correct angle and diameter. I believe that the tube needed is just for '33 and '34 Fords.

    Tire Tube Needed

Huey, I was driving on a gravel road and didn't know that the tire was flat until got to the pavement. The tire and tube were badly damaged. My spare could probably be used but it is at least 40 years old. Really, the only thing that I would like to know is where I can get a new tube no sooner...

    Tire Tube Needed

TJ, I called Dennis Carpenter and C&G and neither have them. I'm not aware of others who might have them. Coker Tire tells me that they will have them in about 3 months, but I was hoping to find one sooner. Even though It's too cold the now but I still would like to get this done sooner.

    Tire Tube Needed

I ran over a roofing nail in my '34 roadster and ruined a good 5.25/5:50 Firestone tire and tube. I got a new tire from Coker Tire, but they only had a heavy-duty tube. I don't want to use this tube because I think it is at least 3 times the weight of the old tube. I have searched on the...

    Senior Fordbarners

I'm 91 and just sold my '22 Model T roadster yesterday and they're coming to pick it up tomorrow. It was getting hard for me to get in it, drive it and work on it. I still have my '28 Model A and '34 roadsters and plan to keep those for a while. I also have a '37 Touring Sedan which my wife...

    Pearl Harbor Day

Thanks Fordy, I will never forget it. I was in the 3rd grade then and when I went to school the next morning the older kids told us that the **** were coming and were going to kill us. Some of us started crying.

I realize that this is off subject, but I just watched the news on TV and read the NY Times and there is no mention of Pearl Harbor. What am I missing?

    34 tuning, running, etc…

Re: 34 tuning, running, etc… I sent the distributors on my '34 and '37 Fords to Charly-NY. He did his thing to them and when I replaced them on both cars they started right up and ran great. The price was reasonable, and the service was fast.

    New 'Death Wobble'

I would go with what Big Hammer said. I had a 1927 Touring with original wire wheels which looked much Model A wheels. Every once in a while, when I hit a bump, I would get the death wobble. I replaced the kingpins and worked on everything else to no avail. One day I decided to reverse the front...
