    No room for more trucks

Sorry to hear about the thumb but the motorcycle is kool. Reminds me of when in my 20's and welding in flip flops, did the hot metal dance with a blob between my toes.

What year/make/model is this fan from?

On my '28 A pickup original 2 blade I welded all the suspected areas 'tween the blades & pully, no problem for 30 years. Yes, I inspect it every 3-5 years. Lost a blade off my '30 A fordor in the 60's in Big Bear Lake, Ca. about midnight, great vibration so I pulled over & looked under the hood...

Hood Type - 3 Swing Out Side Vents

WOW! Someone else read Tractor Wars! I read that one & one other like it, interesting but , like you, I'm not into tractors. As you say some interesting stuff & another facet of our American history. No, I won't be reading it again.

Winter driving, back in the day.

Yes, it was a fun challenging road no matter what the weather was too. I drove it twice a day for two summers to work at the Kaiser Permanente cement plant at the bottom of the grade t'ween high school & junior college.

    Found an antique

That receipt reminds me of the one I have from them that came with my order in July 1991 for COMPLETE upholstery & top sets for my 1930 "A" cabriolet, $1378!

Winter driving, back in the day.

That's a lot more interesting to drive to work than your standard freeway trek in a modern sedan! Switching from winter to summer driving, after high school in Big Bear I went "down the hill" to junior collage in Victorville still driving the A fordor with no top. Coming home for the weekend...

Winter driving, back in the day.

To add to the Big Bear winter fun, I also had a set of ******** snow chains (3 per wheel), and they worked really well. With the stock 19" narrow wheels & chains I put many modern car drivers to shame, not just on the paved roads but the forest roads too. The fordor was my first car and I...

Winter driving, back in the day.

Big Bear Lake Ca. high school in the '60's: can't afford antifreeze in my '30 A fordor so drained radiator every night & filled it every morning from the water heater, then swept the snow off the seat (no top), started it up & drove to school. Manifold heater with hose over to driver to keep...

    This site can’t be reached

Re: This site can’t be reached Thanks Ryan, I've found that lately all over the computer world security is getting tighter. I can't get in to some of my favorite sites because I don't want to get caught in that web.I've enjoyed life for 60 years w/o a computer, if it comes to it, I'll just go...

    OT: Hydrogen engines in production

When I was a volunteer at the San Diego Automotive Museum some years ago they had a a hydrogen powered Model T. It was built by an engineer with plenty of free time and was basically converted to a multi fuel engine. It could still be run on gas or propane. I don't know if they still have it.

    Original sparton horn

I just went through 3 horns, cleaned & adjusted them. Two worked fine but the third was running very slow. Just out of curiosity switched it up to 12 volts & it worked perfectly even tho it was still wound for 6 volts. I know it needs further rehab but just going to leave it for now & maybe put...

    New hood latches?

Karl Wescott: I have a couple sets of those, they were a goody bag item at an A meet in the late 70's. Might use them too.

Engine fails out if very hot

I have a couple clothes pins on my inside fuel line, not as a deterrent to vapor lock, it's just a convent place to keep them for emergencies, ie, we were on our way to a funeral and my friend's pickup kept bogging down. Opened the hood and looked around & saw the nut on the choke arm had fallen...
