HSS with about .060 radius. I changed radius experimenting but still too rough to suit me. I used Vic Zannis' setup just for my own use. I served a Tool & Die Apprenticeship many moons ago and still work at it so I have a fair knowledge on grinding tools.

Can someone post a picture or sketch of how to properly grind a tool for the finish cut of the last few thousandths on a newly poured Babbitt bearing? I'm not happy with the finish I'm getting. Thanks in advance.

My '40 coupe and pickup both have 3.78s with columbias with warmed up flatties. They work good on the freeway at 65 - 70 even up hills. I love 'em!

I've had both '42 & '47. Never have seen one with wipers over the windshield like the Russky one.

Yup, now I have to get my hands dirty. My son has the 170 now. It's in Concord, Ca. He's been riding in it since he was a kid and flew it some after he got his license. He's 52 now. She was in 25 episodes of Northern Exposure. Good old bird. Wife and I flew it to Alaska 4 times.

I just met up with Pete Rose from Langley, B.C. He gave me two sets of gears and other rear parts. Two boxes of parts. He even drove over half way to my place to deliver them. About 150 miles round trip. What a guy! I tried to slip him a couple greenbacks for gas but he wouldn't take them. Also...

Broke two teeth off the ring gear. Now I'm having a hard time finding parts for it. (ring & pinion) No new ones seem to be around. Any ideas where to find some new or used gears or a whole rear end? 3.78 Thanks in advance!

I'm going to rebuild my '40 coupe rear end. All the info I've found doesn't talk about setting the pinion in or out to get a good tooth contact pattern with the ring gear. Should I expect the new bearings to be exactly the same as the old ones so no adjustment is required? (hard to believe) Will...

Me too...as of 1-22-86. I'll never forget that date. I lucked out by never starting smoking.

I have one in my '40 pickup and it works great. Width is OK as pointed out but the drive shaft is too long. I think I used the '40 DS and wishbones on the later rearend. Somebody will point it out if wrong but I think it'll work. I did it 15 years ago. Have fun.

An Englishman named Tim Moore is driving coast to coast right now and is going to write a book about the trip. He started mid-Atlantic and is east of Denver tonight with a blown head gasket. Anybody following him on the other forum? I'd like to find out how to get a copy of the book when available.

Can anyone tell me how to replace the fiber disc in this accelerator pump check valve? I don't see any obvious way to get it apart and I'm being very careful not to screw it up. I bought the kit from Gary Bowyer and everything was fine till I got to the check valve. Thanks

I'm thinking about making a bench for my yard out of unusable T parts. Three axles is a good start. I have a two piece crank, bent rods, wishbones and a lot of other rusty stuff.
