51 and up F1 dana 44 gear swap

I did this exact work to my 51 f1 a few years ago.. I used a 3:54 ring and pinion from a jeep cherokee or wagoneer, cant remember which. I used an auburn posi carrier that I found on super sale from some race supplier (i could dig up the paperwork if you needed),this carrier had 19 spline side...

F-1 Owners: Door weatherstrip. Any good?

I used Dennis Carpenter on mine, they fit fine, glued in place. At first, like Neal said, I had to roll down the window to close the door, after about 6 months they compressed a bit, now it's only cold weather that gives me trouble. I'm happy with the quality. Matt.

    Flathead distributor "service"

I have never cared for the coil mount on the 8ba cylinder head, I feel it's clunky and crowded. I just finished building a new engine for my f1, (maiden voyage was sunday actually). Anyhow, I fabricated a new coil mount that attaches to the inner fender, to clean up the cylinder head area. I...

New guy with an old truck.

This can be done, I built my rear axle (1951 f1) with an auburn posi unit for dana 44 and a used 3:54 ring and pinion from an 80's or 90's jeep cherokee or wagoneer (cant remember). turned down my original bearing to use as "setup bearings" and bought a timken rebuild kit for dana 44 on epay...

Old junk found in our cars

I found this old Gates rubber company button in the kick panel of my 27 roadster .. But the best thing ever, I wish I would have taken a picture, was a 22 magnum old west looking revolver, it was in a holster with a belt, all bailing wired under the seat frame of a 1952 plymouth concord I ended...

    some advice for adjusting valves

Admittedly I am in over my head on this subject, as this is my first flathead build, the deflection theory was my only thought regarding the clearance changing.I'm using original ford valves that I refaced etc. , so that may explain the lifter issue as these valves have probably had the stems...

    some advice for adjusting valves

I'm wrapping my 8ba build with an L100 cam, while I had the block bare, pre-hot tanking, I ground around 1/8" off the top of the lifter bores as well as drilled them as low as I could at 5/32 dia. as per Ol Rons book, did all the exhaust and intake port work needed, then took it to the machine...
