The 1940 adjustment screws are 10-32 X 1-1/4"L as measured from under the second head, made of steel with a slotted pan head. Would be easy to solder a washer under the head with a gap of 1/16" between the two heads.

The lock square shaft may not be in the proper orientation for the square hole in the door latch. Try rotating the shaft 90 degrees.

Heads for 40 marked "F" are aftermarket. 40 car 85 HP used the cast iron "A" head which also has Ford part number on the upper edge. This head was used by Ford since 38 and there are modifications to the head over these years.

Remove the accelerator pump and put some fuel in the well to check for a leak. You can get genuine Stromberg parts on their web site.

The Early 34-37 Stromberg Carbs I suggest Max Musgrove he is Strombergs repair tech.

Make sure you have the correct Carb. to send to Charlie. If you want the original patina also mention that.

Also the brake shoe return spring at the E-brake arm should be behind the rear brake shoe then into the hole in the shoe and in front of the front shoe and then into its forward shoe hole. The direction the wire enters and exits the ammeter loop can determine if the polarity has been changed. Ford - ground the wire entered from the harness through the bottom of the loop and exited the top of the loop and then went to the left side of the fuse block.

I don't think the 34 pan will cover the 35 vent hole. Do consider using the 35 oil pan!

Bruce MO: I too have found the hydrostatic pick up eaten away and destroyed. I would like to find the reason. My thoughts center on fuel additive for extended fuel life.
