Tie rod and drag link question ?

Thanks for the replies. As an engineer, I am familiar with cold flow and was suspicious of the Teflon seats doing so. Was surprised that there were no posts when searched regarding alignment issues. As an additional heads up, the first time alignment went out, I also grabbed one wheel and was...

Tie rod and drag link question ?

I know this is an old post. I installed the teflon easy steer kit last year and the toe in alignment is not holding. Three times has slowly changed to toe out. Teflon is compressing. All spherical balls are new. Anyone else have this problem? Seriously considering going back to steel cups to...

    Front Crankshaft seal

Question about an aftermarket front neoprene crank seal. The one I am talking about is a drop in for the rope seal. My A engine was rebuilt not too many miles ago with this seal for the previous owner. The engine leaked. I noticed the neoprene seal when replacing the pan gasket and decided to...

    More Toe In conundrums

As an engineer.... I agree. Doing it is faster and easier than calculating! FYI, make sure you have the tie rod ends tightened enough. Too loose and there will be movement because of the springs in each end. You can change from toe in to toe out by grabbing the wheel and pushing and pulling on...

30 Murray town sedan rear door shims?

The rear doors on my 30 Town Sedan are rubbing on the curved bottom, About 1/3 up from the bottom of the door. Both sides. The door alignment of all 4 doors to the door opening, to each other, and to the body lines are good. It appears that all it needs is shims under the hinges to move the door...

30 Murray town sedan window felt channels

Question. Are the felt window channels glued in place on a 30 Murray town sedan? I see no evidence of clip holes in the door or clips on my existing worn out channels. Thanks! George

Which service brake cross shaft bushing?

I ordered the split bushings today. Will file/sand the halves to get a good fit. Was thinking Dremel or cut off wheel to split also. Wanted to see what others did to confirm. Appreciate the input. This will complete totally rebuilding the brake system. On to electrical next! George

Which service brake cross shaft bushing?

Old post. Old bushings. Old mechanic... Any comments on how to best remove what looks like the original woven bushings without removing the levers for installing a brass split bushing?

    Marvel Schebler vs B Zenith

I have read some interesting discussion regarding the various A carbs. Could not find anything comparing the Marvel Schebler to the B Zenith. Background. I am looking to increase the power a bit of my current A. Engine is a low mileage overhaul as purchased. Per receipts, counterbalanced crank...

    Pitman arm interference issue

Final post. The pitman arm pinch nut is still pretty close when rotated aft but it clears. Solution was as described in my last post. Biggest benefit was machining the pinch bolt boss as mentioned and using a shortened bolt. Thanks all.

    Pitman arm interference issue

All, certainly appreciate the time many took to pen a helpful response. This why I like this forum. It's finally Friday and will have a little more garage time. Will update as I work for a resolution to the way my car was built. Will post pictures if I can figure it out. An additional note. I...

    Pitman arm interference issue

Appreciate the input Marshall! Good comments. Hole integrity was an early thought also. Bolts fit properly and no appearance of welding or modifying. I even cleaned off the paint some to check. I was surprised that the two 31s I checked had holes that sit lower in the frame. Maybe I am just at...

    Pitman arm interference issue

I am currently installing a shortened pitman arm in my 30 Town Sedan. I have noticed that at full aft stroke, the nut that is on the bolt securing the arm to the steering box shaft is hitting the fender above it when the pitman arm is rotated completely aft to the point of hitting the stop bolt...

    Front engine mount alignment issue

And the rest of the story. Bent mount. Bottom end bent toward the engine. Suspect previously bent on a past engine removal while still attached when setting on the floor. New from Snyder’s fit.

    Front engine mount alignment issue

Thanks for the thoughts. I have checked the location of the hole in the cross member to the SB Ford put out for field retrofitting these. 1 in from the flange. Mine is also... Hard to tell if bent. Appears correct. I have just purchased a new front mount. Cheap enough to have on hand when i...
