    Assembly plant vs manufacture plant

The new Ford Plant at Geelong in Victoria ,set up 1925, was a manufacturing & assembly plant. In that era, most govt.s had a floating scale of what was imported & local sourced items. Basically, in Model A era & up to 1935, Ford Aust. imported chassis, running gear plus fenders etc but body...

    Tudor variant

I have seen pics of French V8 60 sedan [Model 62?] produced with rear door like that, version of Dagenham model. I would try & contact a big Euro Model A group eg. Denmark & see if they know of any. Model A's move around a lot between countries. Ford Germany did some Tudors with door same as...

    April 1928 Business Coupe

How was it dated to April? It would need a paper title as registered in that month in my opinion.

29 Tudor rear rubber mat question

For the 1930-31's, the rear seat was shortened by approx. 2" to give the impression that more area was provided than the previous Tudors. Ford actually stated the New Tudor was roomier than the previous model! Glad you got it sorted out.

Lets see those 180 A Deluxe Phaetons

Very interesting to hear of your A's John. Probably Argentina received the most Deluxe Phaetons , they were a wealthy market pre War [ they were a huge primary product supplier to Gt Britain] until Peron stuffed it up. I have seen a very nice '31 Deluxe Phaeton RHD ex Argentina here in NZ...

29 Tudor rear rubber mat question

No. I have an original rear mat in my Tudor& it lies flat & is located by brass studs on the metal floor railings. You would have to probably punch holes in the repro mat. The front edge of the mat goes under the rear seat feet of the front seats.

    Right hand drive frame?

All the Canadian chassis here in NZ, & I believe all made in Canada were drilled for both LHD & RHD until sometime in late '30 when they were only for RHD or LHD depending on destination. I would suspect [ an easy enough check] it was the same with Ford Detroit. Ford US supplied large shipments...

    Things That Vibrate

At 60mph, I would say everything would be rattling. Too fast, even if modified!

Original photos of 31 roadster seats and seat back?

Try & get a look at '" Ford Model A as Henry Built It " by DeAngelis, Francis & Henry which has factory photos of the pleats on roadster seats. Also there is a good Factory photo of an interior of a '30 in Restorer Vol. 19,issue 1, May-June 1974. The seats have creases & misalignments from new.

    prefix letter on Ford Badges

Worldwide Employee Badges, ID Cards, Passes & Permits book by James Krucki is now the reference for this subject. No need for wrong facts by non experts, nearly every Ford badge ever made is covered by an expert [s].

    Original body decal

In the day, image was built up by printing separate colours [ also gold & silver] & black using separate letterpress printing plates. Printed on 'transfer 'paper with top sealed layer. As Ed stated above. If you photo your existing 'decal' transfer, you can get modern type decal paper to copy it...

What is the hardest Model A accessory to find

The fender lamps really look sharp, but I have never seen any on a car. Other than the UK which required them as John has said, the big market that used them was Argentina which may be a source. But because fenders were subject to damage, I would presume any fender lamps would be hard to find...

    1928 Canadian Tudor

That is a re stamp, not a Ford Canada engine number. All engines stamped CA ...... up to 150,000 which was end of Aug. '29. From then on CAQ; CAW;CAE etc ending in CAD in Feb '32. These 3 digit blocks were in 10,000 batches. No blocks were stamped with an F [ as in CAF] but some US blocks for...

    1923 Canadian Tudor

This is the Tudor in question. We did the front end joints & a slogged out king pin plus many other small jobs . Car looks tidy & has been repainted, re wired & new upholstery but has not had a major rebuild except normal stuff prior to 1962. It runs well & we expect normal teething problems...

    Car Stopped Running

Should explain ; I found the quote of original post somewhat amusing, 'foreign made ammeter'. As if everything outside US is cheap & faulty. Reality is problem ,as everyone suspects , is a cheap & faulty fuse holder. Cheers.

    1923 Canadian Tudor

Although I have been interested in Model A's for 60 years & owned one for 50years, I had my first ride & drive of a '23 Tudor today. Owned by a friend, this car has not been road legal for about 57 years & we were doing some adjustments before it can be vinned. Question - how much play should...
