Leon, I think the ST 58 is for Negative ground only. ST 53 is the one for Positive ground. I found this out the hard way when NAPA thru the wrong one in the bag when I needed one (ST53) for positive ground on '49 PU. Of course I couldn't return it. The ST58 was made for some small Nash/AMC...

Doug, It will come out the front. You have to disconnect the speedo cable and maybe the bulbs in the back. Also the circuit breakers on side are sometimes attached to the instrument housing. Turn it a little sideways and you can just lay it on the steering column. I changed out my speedo this...

Ron, I had the same problem on my '53 and '54 cars and tried it all. I kept slightly loosening the tabs on the wheel-covers from a firmer position and finally they stayed on,original rims,radials and all. After several years and 13K mi, none have fallen off. Good Luck, Don

KIWI, I know that 1949 F-! production started on 6-10-48 and ran thru 11-15-49. Also '49 parts start with 1948 number(8). Ford expected the '49's to all commence in 1948. Don
