Having gone through a couple of shut off valves I ended the situation with an inline ball **** valve from Lowe's and after 4 years it has been flawless.

    Please identify this engine...

I would have to vote its a 312 from looking at all the signs and numbers. You could remove the trans and bell housing and look on the crank shaft flange and if it has a round dot raised up on the flange its a 312.

Good Ole Ethonal In Our Classic Cars

Having raced with methanol fuels for many years and seeing what it can do to fuel systems It hard to believe we have this in our fuels for every day use. When normal gas started drying up and they all went to the ethanol I started adding a half cup of oil to my tank when filling up. To date I...

    312 y block to 302

I agree with Franks here. A fresh Y block or fresh 302 have about the same durability so it's almost a bolt in if you decide to do it. Ther is more than enough room to do the swap and if you haven't swaped the generator for an alternator this is another change I would do . Either way its doable...

    Movie cars...

We had a couple of rides in the movie 'HOPE" by Goldie Hawn and had a good time and got paid very well in the process. All the rented cars were kept in a compound area and only one driver did all the setup where they wanted the parked cars to be located. Cars driven were done by the actors who...

    Propane for fuel in flattie

Hard to believe there is that much difference in fuel cost. Right now our gas here is $3.31 a gallon and under contract I pay $1.90 for propane. A few of the stations are still at $3.51 a gallon on gas but that about as high as I have seen in lately.

    Can head gasket be re-used

Good soft copper head caskets can be used several times. I use K&W copper coat and make sure all surfaces are clean then spray both sides and let tack a few minutes then install and torque to proper specks. If the gasket has a gouge or damaged part then replace it. When I use a head gasket for...
