Finding a fair price within the club

When looking to buy a particular car, negotiating the price is important. However, just as important, to getting a fair deal, is negotiating the actual condition of the vehicle. You must do a thorough job of inspecting the car. The seller is always going to present the vehicle in its best light...

    Negative Battery Shut-Off

There is some difference of opinion as to installing the switch to the negative side (To starter) or the positive (Ground) side of the battery. I have one to the negative side and it works just fine. Attached is a rough schematic of the two options.

    Sagging rear end

Really good information JJ. I was thinking of going with a ten leaf, but the eight leaf, along with a pair of suspenders, should do the trick. I see my local Model A parts supplier, Bert's, has the eight leaves for $625. I can save on shipping and see my grandkids with the two-hour commute. Win...

    Sagging rear end

It is somewhat difficult to get a real clear look at the rear spring with the spring cover installed. I counted, then recounted, then counted again. Each time I came up with seven leafs (leaves?). Is this the correct number for a '31 Victoria? Everything else, shackles. shock absorbers, etc...

    Sagging rear end

My 31 Victoria seems to sit a little low in the rear and will bottom out on bumps in the road. It has new shocks, so I don't think that is the problem. I am guessing the 100-year-old spring is worn out. Can these springs be "reshaped" by a good shop or do I need to invest in a new spring? Any...

    Steering adjustment questions

I have a 31 Victoria with a two-tooth steering box. I have too much (3-4") play in my steering wheel. I watched Paul's video on steering adjustment but I'm not fast enough to get it. Question 1: How do you find TDC of the steering column? There are three adjustment points for the steering...

    Nice Stance...

Always dreamed of owning a '34 roadster, but not this one. It *****. Sand dune tires and painted over rust. This one missed the mark. Edit: Wow, never thought this site would start censoring posts. A cup of disappointment with my morning coffee.

Still Worried About the Antique Car Hobby Being Dead or Dying??

Wonderful, encouraging posts above. At these events, leave your lawn chairs and DO NOT TOUCH signs at home. The cargo shorts and white socks and sandals crowd need to try harder to embrace the 21st century. It ain't 1956 anymore. Thank you for the great photos of people, hands on, participating...

    Paint options for driver

Great idea. Offer to do the masking yourself as well. You may consider that as prep work. You can do the door jams, with a rattle can of your paint color, made up by your local paint store.

    VIN location on frame?

I just passed a Vin verification, at my DMV, using the stamp on the engine. That is an acceptable location.
