First of all, have you done anything to determine where the "slop" is coming from? Is it in the steering box itself or in any of the various connectors from the steering box to the front wheels, or ????

I've done everything myself (i.e. no professional involved) with occasional help from a friend working along with me. Only exception was plating and upholstery.

Perhaps something as simple as Ford having two different Suppliers or the housing

Do you have the radiator mounted in the right holes? As I recall, there are two sets of holes for the radiator to mount on - one set for cars, one for trucks, but I don't recall which were which. I also recall having to adjust the rods to get a proper fit.

The driver's door on my '36 coupe was not aligned with the dovetail, but could be lifted and inserted into the dovetail. I removed the bottom hinge and inserted 1/8" shim behind it.the door shut perfectly and the gaps were excellent.

Just wanted to follow up and let y'all know that Bob Drake had the striker plate mount which was correct for a 3w coupe (.700" ctr.-ctr.). Thanks again for the help. -Bob
