If you break the ground the complete system is dead. Not so if you break the hot. Bill

Lift the upper lever so they are parallel/even with each other, that is neutral. You probably bumped the lever and knocked it into first gear. Bill

We replace these in the vehicle all the time. Just use a hammer and punch or chisel and cave the steel shell inward like was stated earlier. Bill

Is there an oversize stamped on the top of the piston? An .080 piston would measure about3.265. Sounds to me like you,ve got an .0825 oversize bore and pistons.

Bored & stroked, The posts about tin can sleeves do apply! My first engine about 70 years ago was a 41 merc with tin can sleeves, I pulled the sleeves and ordered .0825 pistons and then found a crack in the block. I got a 59L and bored it .0825 and used the pistons in it, Nice engine...

Sounds like that block was bored for .0825 pistons, They were a replacement for the "tin can sleeves" back in the day. Bill

An ammeter will also tell you if you lost a belt. Bill

When I worked in my Dads shop in the 50s you had a choice between permanent anti freeze or alcohol. Alcohol boiled off and you had to keep adding to it. Permanent cost twice as much but you didn't have to add to it. The only two brands at that time were Zerex (yellow) and Prestone(green)...

Brent ,I was questioning your last post where you said " hand operating a hone with the spindle mounted in a vise"? By the way I also own and have operated a sunnen hone for years but I also know how precise a precision reamed hole can be. Bill
