    1959 Galaxie Headlights

I have questions about the headlight wiring and operation on a 1959 Galaxie which has 4 headlights. Which side does the 3 wire plug on on? Inner or outer? Do both lights stay on during high beam operation or just the high beam and the other is off. Which side is the high beam? Thanks for any reply.

    '59 Fuel Pump Issue

I have called Then And Now Automotive and their parent company Antique Parts Cellar several times and I get the same message that the mail box is full. Never get an answer. I'll have to assume they are gone.

    '59 Fuel Pump Issue

It appears to be original. It has the glass bowl with the brass screen on the bottom. I don't see a name or number on it anywhere. I see the kits are for certain manufactures.

    '59 Fuel Pump Issue

The fuel pump on my '59 Galaxie 292 cu in will no longer pump fuel. This is the double one that also operates the wipers. After searching the archives here it's apparent there are no rebuild kits available and the made in China ones are junk. Some have used an electric pump to push fuel to the...

    Crud in carb bowl

My '59 Galaxie does have a threaded plug on the bottom of the gas tank. I could put a small valve there and position it so it doesn't hang too low.

    Crud in carb bowl

Thanks Kultulz. Looking at the first article I see there seems to be a disagreement on this subject. There is an oil/propane company close to me that sells non ethanol gas. I'm going to drain my tank and use that in this car and see what happens. It would also be nice to have a desiccant on the...

    Crud in carb bowl

Anyone else have a problem with deposits in carb bowl after it sits for awhile? I rebuilt my carb about 1 year ago. Gas tank looks clean inside and inline filter was installed. Fresh gas in tank. The car is not on the road yet so it's started only to move it for repair work. I could not keep it...

    Under hood Insulation

Apparently heat is not issue. I saw it mentioned once that it could also be for noise reduction which I don't care about.

    Under hood Insulation

My main concern was the heat. I bought a qt. of high heat black paint just in case. I'll just spray several coats of that. Thanks for your reply.

    Under hood Insulation

Thanks for your answer. I was looking at some discussions online and it seems to be some for and some think it isn't necessary. I think I'll just repaint it and move on.

    Under hood Insulation

I assume my 59 Galaxie had insulation under the hood at one time. Does it need to be replaced? If so with what? I'm not making a "show car" just a driver so I really don't care about the appearance.

    Spark Plug Wires

I guess I'll have to ask what the length of the wires are in a universal set before ordering. That seems to be the best way to go without making up my own set from scratch. Thanks for all the replies.

    Spark Plug Wires

I've seen some wires on line that show one end open but they never give the lengths of the wires. The one for #5 cylinder is almost 4' long. The already made up ones I ordered locally never had one that long. I don't know if the universal sets include wires that long either.

    Spark Plug Wires

If I get a universal set or use bulk wire how do I put the ends on? Do I need a special crimper? How well do they stay on?

    Spark Plug Wires

After ordering wires 2 times from local parts stores and having them totally wrong length I need some recommendations for the correct ones. I have a '59 Galaxie with 292 engine. Everything is stock.
