    Bendix Drive Question??

That is the "tractor" drive. They are supposed to be an improvement in reliability over the original Bendix. I am using one though have broken a couple so carry a spare Bendix, just in case. The current has held up for 20,000 miles, so far so good. A's Always Dave

Which Model A for a coast to coast trip?

We have made the trip a couple of times in our Victoria, so guess I am partial. I don't use an external trunk, everything fits inside. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. A's Always Dave

    coil

I have used the Pertronix 3 ohm oil filled coil with 12 volts for a number of miles without issue. The Pertronix oil filled coil is designed to operate in any orientation, including the Model A firewall, very good quality. A's Always Dave

    180 Degree Thermostat "Hunting"

I was only able to get the 185 degree thermostat to work correctly in a pressurized system. The 160 degree performed well in a non-pressurized system. A's Always Dave

    Trans Bearings

I have found that the rear bearing with just one seal doesn't seal well even with the slinger in place. I am using a double sealed bearing and the level now stays up after extended touring.

    How Far In One Day?

On our trip to and from Dearborn we had a couple of 500 miles days, figuring that was as long as we wanted to go in a day. In the past we have done some longer days, but now 400 to 500 miles seem reasonable. A's Always Dave

    red line products

We sell a line of synthetic race oils from very low viscosity to top fuel 70Wt, though our main business are street products. Model A engines will certainly tolerate a range of viscosities, I use 10W30 a similar viscosity at operating temperature to the SAE 30 originally called for, works well...

    Water pump ?

The front bearing with the fan off you can see the seal on the ball bearing. The rear is more difficult, the pump needs to be pulled, you can see the Rupert machined bearing and seal holder. A's Always Dave

    red line products

I use Red Line products exclusively in our Model A's and work in tech support. We offer an 80W250 gear oil, a modern equivalent viscosity to the old 600W, used in our transmission. The ShockProof Heavy is used in our differential and steering box. In the engine I use 10W30 and definitely...

    Bob Drakes universal joint

I am using a Drake needle bearing universal joint, seems to be performing well. It uses sealed needle bearings, only the spline and torque tube mount need occasional grease. About 15000 miles or so. A's Always Dave

    Hot 4 Banger radiator question

I have a similar set up, I am using the Brassworks pressurized radiator with the expansion tank between the shell, slick setup. With the Vintage Precision 185° thermostat it operates between 180 and 190°. The Lion head seems to operate cool, relatively. The Rupert sealed pump doesn't leak. Made...
