'39 Ford Deluxe Hood does not close completely

deuce_roadster Thank you. You have shed light where it needed to be shed! Knowing what is behind there and knowing I will not have to put a wrench on it builds my confidence level up to a point where I now think I will give it a shot. I will get an assistant to help as I am only 18 years...

'39 Ford Deluxe Hood does not close completely

19Fordy Yes! Bought them from Joe's Antique awhile back. Just have not installed them yet. Don't feel confident that I can reach the hidden bolt head on the hood where it is attached to the hood and also the bolt head on the inside of the cowl. Maybe I don't need to reach them for...

'39 Ford Deluxe Hood does not close completely

jstrez When I took ownership of my 1939 Ford Deluxe Convertible in 2021, it had no tube shocks on the rear but it did have tube shocks on the front. I ordered from Bob Drake the following kit: HR-18000-K; 1935-40Car & 1935-41 PICKUP REAR SHOCK & ANTI-SWAY KIT. PRICE WAS $229.75 I had a...

Remove Gauge Cluster from Dashboard on '39 Convertible

Changing from Positive Ground to Negative Ground on 1939 Ford

nelsb01 Anyone doing this, is doing it at their own risk and peril. You are absolutely correct that "sparks" will fly when I polarize the generator by touching the VR's "F" Field wire to the "B" post on the VR. That is how the Ginny gets polarized. Or re-polarized is maybe the correct term...

Changing from Positive Ground to Negative Ground on 1939 Ford

My 1939 Ford had already been converted to 12 Volts but it was left as a Positive Ground. Why is anybody's guess. The generator has been replaced with a rebuilt generator and she starts and runs just fine with no problems. This is a fairly simple process which I may have over...

1939 Convertible Top Issue: Need advice

Hey you oldbugger Thanks! Sounds like a plausible idea. I will give it a shot! I have owned for two years and it has never been up for at least that long. Who drives a convertible when ya gotta put the top up, especially in the Sunny South? The top is made out of material that I would...

1939 Convertible Top Issue: Need advice

TJ Thanks. My 39 Ford is used for driving fun only and not for entering in vintage auto shows for trophies etc. It is for the enjoyment of an 18 year old youth locked in a 83 year old body. It serves its purpose on cloudless days. However I do not want to get the interior damaged by rain...
